Effectively balkanizing the area, the geography of Guilford simultaneously discouraged both incursion by those living outside the neighborhood as well as any urge for its residents to venture into the poorer, predominately black neighborhoods nestled along its edges. Despite the fact that mine was a peaceful community of working and middle class families of all colors, this small act of kindness was not worth the risk in their minds, especially if it turned out to be a recurring task.

Dubois, Eubie Blake, and Cab Calloway among its past residents. The tale of Reneisha McBride, shot dead through a screen door while seeking help in an unfamiliar neighborhood following a car accident, is a true-life ghost story for black girls and boys. White fright has, in some ways, been amplified by the internet. Lines of communication such as this would seem a major step in working to alleviate the fear and apathy, and perhaps even improve the circumstances of areas blighted by violence, addiction, and economic insecurity. But the people who live there are as much American citizens as are residents of dreamier neighborhoods.

We got those too! I love living in this city! The city of Santa Clara has provided our family with many opportunities within the community. The schools within the Santa Clara Unified School District, especially Laurelwood Elementary School, have given our family lifetime friendships and allowed us to become active members within our community. We have been involved in running many events at the local schools such as California History Day, Ice Cream Social, The Nutcracker play and the school's Walk-a-thon fundraiser.

To keep our local community together, in our family started holding an annual Backyard BBQ Talent Show for the local friends and residents. With my rewarding 12 plus years of volunteering in the local schools and hosting local events, I have finally found my true calling, to become an elementary school teacher!

McAllen, where I was born and bred, the city that shaped me into what I am today. McAllen has evolved over the years into a symbol of growth, with new job opportunities, a strong inclination toward entrepreneurship, an increase in healthcare availability, a rise in tourist attractions, among other great additions. Moreover, the community has cultivated a Tex-Mex culture unlike any other that can make anyone feel at home with its emphasis on family!

Yet, there is significant diversity found in the McAllen community. One may visit the southern part of McAllen for some great Mexican delicacies one minute, then completely change one's atmosphere by traveling north of the train tracks. The northern part of McAllen, with its hip cafes and stores, where one may shop until they drop! All in all, McAllen has become a city where everyones' interest can be met.

Overall Richardson is a great place to live! There are only a few things that have changed my perspective of Richardson. I have attended some of the city council meetings and learned that the leaders of this great city are fantastic but do not take into consideration minor details that come with the change, for example they are improving one of the high schools in the districts and did not consider the parking problems that would come with that.

Boulder is a splendid place to live. It perfectly mixes together a small town vibe and an urban metropolis. There are always things to do because of the young vibrant university atmosphere, and the multitude of outdoor activities. There are tons of options for groceries, housing styles, options for schools, and any and all types of restaurants. It's a town that is small enough to bike to just about anywhere you need to go, and also a magnificent amount of bike trails and lanes throughout the city and suburbs. If you're looking for a forward-thinking town that is inclusive and pushing the boundaries, Boulder is just the town for you!

Corona used to be a small suburb that has started booming! It's the perfect place to raise a family. Corona parks are usually filled with k sports year round. There isn't a nightlife or much to do as far as entertainment, but it is the gateway to Downtown riverside, Orange county, San Diego and Palm Springs. Corona is truly at the center of everything!

I enjoy the strong sense of the Torrance community, as prevalent in service projects, the Torrance culture arts centre, and other local community events which occur. Weekly farmers markets encourage the maintenance of small, local, family businesses and other annual events encourage the development of community connections. Torrance is the first place which comes to mind when I think of home.

If I were to wish to improve anything, it would be the education.

Although various resources are available, teachers fail to spark students' motivation to strive for excellence both inside and outside the classroom. As a role model to the future education of America, they should aspire to inspire students, rather than bare minimum work and mediocre qualifications. My family and I have lived in the City of Orange for nearly 5 years. The City itself is quaint with lots of old time charm.

One of our favorite pass times is frequenting the many eateries and retail places in Old Town Orange. So many places, so little time. Anyone who is anyone in the City attends this festival; an event NOT to be missed! Many new types of business are popping up, but the older established community is somewhat resistant to the modern style changes. There is a decent balance of eateries and entertainment. The best part about living in Orange is that it is close to so many places and things to do: The cost of living in the City of Orange is off the map. Dec 21, Jenn rated it really liked it. Liz is someone I'd love to meet. She's a no muss no fuss type of lady. A vagabond who doesn't fit in with the rest of her ilk. And I see how she grows throughout this short mystery with the help and love of her friends and neighbors. By the way, I had totally guessed the killer wrong! That makes this an awesome mystery in my books: Jul 31, Christine rated it it was amazing.
