Prophecies and Predictions as Authentication

They observe the intensity that is taking possession of every earthly element, and they recognize that something great and decisive is about to take place,—that the world is on the verge of a stupendous crisis. The Bible, and the Bible only, gives a correct view of these things.

Here are revealed the great final scenes in the history of our world, events that already are casting their shadows before, the sound of their approach causing the earth to tremble, and men's hearts to fail them for fear. Give the Trumpet a Certain Sound —There are many who do not understand the prophecies relating to these days, and they must be enlightened.

It is the duty of both watchmen and laymen to give the trumpet a certain sound. Crowd in Clear-cut Prophetic Truths —The perils of the last days are upon us, and in our work we are to warn the people of the danger they are in.

  4. Prophet to the Nation;

Let not the solemn scenes which prophecy has revealed, be left untouched. If our people were half awake, if they realized the nearness of the events portrayed in the Revelation, a reformation would be wrought in our churches, and many more would believe the message. We have no time to lose; God calls upon us to watch for souls as they that must give an account.

Advance new principles, and crowd in the clear-cut truth. It will be as a sword cutting both ways. But be not too ready to take a controversial attitude. There will be times when we must stand still and see the salvation of God. Let Daniel speak, let the Revelation speak, and tell what is truth.

In a Fresh, Impressive Way —Do not let the teaching be done in a dry, abstract way, which has been the manner of teaching in too many cases, but present the truths of God's Word in a fresh, impressive way The book of Revelation must be opened to the people. Many have been taught that it is a sealed book; but it is sealed only to those who reject light and truth. The truth it contains must be proclaimed, that people may have an opportunity to prepare for the events which are so soon to transpire. The third angel's message must be presented as the only hope for the salvation of a perishing world.

Insights in Revelation: Messages from a Majestic Savior

Three Messages Important —The theme of greatest importance is the third angel's message, embracing the messages of the first and second angels. All should understand the truths contained in these messages and demonstrate them in daily life, for this is essential to salvation. We shall have to study earnestly, prayerfully, in order to understand these grand truths; and our power to learn and comprehend will be taxed to the utmost.

Prophecy the Foundation of Our Faith —Ministers should present the sure word of prophecy as the foundation of the faith of Seventh-day Adventists. The twenty-fourth chapter of Matthew is presented to me again and again as something that is to be brought to the attention of all. We are today living in the time when the predictions of this chapter are fulfilling. Let our ministers and teachers explain these prophecies to those whom they instruct.

  • A Step Out of Bounds.
  • Shards.
  • Let them leave out of their discourses matters of minor consequence, and present the truths that will decide the destiny of souls. Into the very designs and principles of the church of God these truths are to enter. A benediction is pronounced upon those who pay due regard to this communication.

The blessing is promised to encourage a study of this book.

    Prophecy – Renewal Ministries

We are by no means to become weary of looking into it because of its apparently mystical symbols. Christ can give us understanding There should be a closer and more diligent study of the Revelation, and a more earnest presentation of the truths it contains—truths which concern all who are living in these last days. A Message for the Whole World —The vision that Christ presented to John, presenting the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus, is to be definitely proclaimed to all nations, people, and tongues.

The churches, represented by Babylon, are represented as having fallen from their spiritual state to become a persecuting power against those who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. To John this persecuting power is represented as having horns like a lamb, but as speaking like a dragon. Receiving Congregational Response —Brother 's meetings were largely attended, and the people listened to his words with spellbound interest; the interest continued from first to last.

They are not only infected with sin, but they teach sin, embrace sin, dismiss sin. Their leadership has been unable to handle this. First spoken by the late Franciscan Father Michael Scanlan and published in the former New Covenant magazine in , those words are considered a prophecy by Renewal Ministries, which grew out of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal movement.

The prophecy of Father Scanlan, who served as president of Franciscan University of Steubenville from to , is one of several received years ago by leaders of the movement that have continued to resonate as events have unfolded in the Church and the world. But such messages are not isolated or even rare.

Indeed, several popes, including more recently St. John Paul II and Benedict XVI, have spoken compellingly along these lines, as have the visionaries of Fatima and other Marian apparition sites and scores of ordinary people who receive visions or locutions and discern them through their spiritual directors, sometimes sharing them online. Father Joseph Esper, a priest of the Archdiocese of Detroit and author of several books dealing with prophetic messages, said in the Old Testament, God raised up prophets as a kind of back channel of communication to the people because those who made up the religious establishment of the day were not doing what they were called to do.

Father Esper said in such cases, God uses prophecy to warn, prepare and encourage people, but never to introduce new doctrine and only to elaborate on Church teaching or give practical information or advice on how to put that teaching into practice. Messages can be for an entire nation, a group of people, the Church itself or individuals, he said.

Often, when warning of dire things to come, prophecy is conditional, meaning that if people take the message seriously and change their ways, chastisements can be mitigated or prevented. However, he said, every prophecy needs to be tested, often over time. Paul, he explained, exhorts Christians not to despise prophecy, but also to test everything and to seek what is good. For example, many of those who heard a prophecy given in in St. I want to prepare you for what is to come. Days of darkness are coming on the world, days of tribulation. Supports that are there for my people now will not be there.

Herbeck said the message parallels what Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI said as a young priest about how the Church would lose its prestige, voice in politics and influence, and shrink through testing, trial and purification. Likewise, St.
