Nathan loves having fun and he has a great wingman in his best friend, Catch. His motives for dating Levi seemed a bit selfish, at least until we learn the real reason for him asking for the money from his grandma, but it was nice seeing him grow throughout the book and realize he wants something more than just having fun with Levi. It took me longer to warm up to Nathan because he was so secretive, but other than wanting to strangle him for hurting Levi, he wasn't that bad in the end.

Levi and Nathan had great chemistry and balanced each other quite nicely. I really liked the progression of their relationship since they took their time to move from friends to lovers. I loved Mavis, Nathan's grandma. She was a hoot! And while some of the things she did had some unfortunate results, her heart was in the right place. I really liked Catch and Rich, Nathan's friends, and I really wouldn't say no to reading their story. Fun, sweet, hot, with some light angst and a bit of a mystery that kept me entertained until the last page.

Mar 16, Carra rated it liked it. Off-Campus Setup had an interesting premise, one that you know right up front is going to cause major conflict at some point. Nathan is also more than what he seems—a smart guy who is protective and wants to give back to others. And as for what was driving Mavis, that kind of seemed a bit contrived and—in line with her character—an over the top way to go about things. Overall, Off-Campus Setup was a good story, I just could have done without so many crazy manipulations behind everything mostly from Mavis. Levi and Nathan are good together without needing all that extra interference beyond the first nudge to get them together.

You never know what paths we will take in life, sometimes we go on our own and sometimes we are steered towards one by some well-meaning but manipulative people. Keep that in mind when you read this book because it is important. Levi and Nathan really were what the other needed. What may have started off as something else possibly turns into something more, but what that more is you will have to read to find out.

It took me a bit to warm up to Nathan, and for good reason but once you start to see little things about him it was easy to warm up to him. Levi I just had a soft spot in my heart for him from the start. Remember that well —meaning but manipulative comment above? Mar 11, Becky Baldridge rated it really liked it. This is my first read by this author, but it certainly won't be my last. It's an interesting twist on a fake romance and also a bit of an opposites attract and coming of age love story.

College Sex

Levi and Nathan are likable characters and the chemistry between them is almost palpable. In fact, all the characters are interesting and even the minor ones add a little something to the story. The romance is both sweet and sexy as Levi and Nathan get to know each other. Levi is a little like a fish out of water This is my first read by this author, but it certainly won't be my last. Levi is a little like a fish out of water as he tries to find his place in his new and unfamiliar world and Nathan is the typical party boy, just enjoying his youth. I loved the compromises between this pair as they find a happy medium together.

A huge plus for me is the added bonus of clever and often hilarious dialogue and banter between characters. And Grandma Mavis! I absolutely loved the chain smoking, yellow-haired, crazily dressed Grandma Mavis. While the lengths this absolute hoot of a character went to in order to play matchmaker were a bit over the top, it all worked to create an engaging romance that was impossible to put down. New Ideas Added at the Top

When I read the prologue, I thought I was going to be in for an angsty type of read, but it didn't take long to figure out that wasn't the case. As much as I love Levi and Nathan, hands down Mavis stole the show. He's quiet and unassuming, isn't the typical college student: doesn't drink and isn't in to the party scene. And then there's Nathan: he's the exact opposite of Levi: drinks, parties, and indulges in When I read the prologue, I thought I was going to be in for an angsty type of read, but it didn't take long to figure out that wasn't the case.

And then there's Nathan: he's the exact opposite of Levi: drinks, parties, and indulges in hookups. There's a side to Nathan that he doesn't show, but it's that hidden side that has him agreeing to the idea from his grandmother that he spends time showing Levi around campus and town. I figured this story was nothing more than a matchmaking grandma trying to corral her grandson into settling down, but there's much more to the story than just that, but I won't divulge that information.

Suffice it to say that Mavis has plenty, and I mean plenty of influence to do what she did on the level it happened. I like how the story ended up for Levi and Nathan, and I'm curious to know more about Catch and Rich.

Mar 08, Rosie Chapel rated it it was amazing. Ms Vickers has done it again. I love her books, each one has a unique take on romance and this is no exception. Levi is your honest to goodness country boy who decides to attend college in California. Despite his assumption that everything was pre-organised, on his arrival a series of unforeseen hitches finds Levi lodging off campus with Grandma Mavis and a more hilariously awesome grandma you have yet to meet!

Nathan, Levi's across the hall neighbour and Mavis' grandson, seems at first Ms Vickers has done it again. Nathan, Levi's across the hall neighbour and Mavis' grandson, seems at first impression to be a bit of a lad - street smart, party going, couldn't care less type. Mavis asks Nathan a favour and the fun begins.

This story is witty, fast paced, heart wrenching, heart warming, and utterly irresistible, the relatively small cast of characters, beautifully balanced against the backdrop of a large college campus and the populous city it nestles within. Want to know more? Nope - no spoilers - treat yourselves to this engaging read - one I highly recommend. Mar 10, 2kasmom rated it really liked it Shelves: college.

Mar 07, Nia Farrell rated it it was amazing. Hang on for an extended eight-second ride! This was my first read from Maria Vickers, and it won't be my last. The story grabbed me from the start and refused to let go, from poor Texas-born Levis's unfortunate welcome to California university life, to Nathan plowing into him while escaping from his grandmother's boarding house, to the moment of truth for the two young college students.

Maria writes with a deft touch, creating engaging characters, two young men set on resisting each other and one colorful grandmother who's equally determined to push them together.

There's enough humor to make it MM romantic comedy, finely balanced with young adult angst, sizzling sex scenes, and unexpectedly poignant moments that brought tears to my eyes. A perfect addition to your library if you enjoy great storytelling.
