Publisher: Alfred Music , In it, Leary guides Metzner on a trip through his body, through his memory, and all the way back to his evolutionary cellular origins, while Rosemary is the divine connection echoing Leary's calming words. But, unlike its eponymous predecessor, this is no mere spoken-word record; alternating with and accompanying Leary's rap is a mesmerizing East-West blend featuring guitar, tabla, and the rarely-heard veena, an Indian instrument akin to a sitar or a sarod, while odd use of reverb and sound effects create a musique concrete effect mixing voice and music.

You bet. Even the song titles chart the course of an acid trip.

Turn on and tune in with the guy Richard Nixon called 'The most dangerous man in America! Born on November 15, to African-American and Filipino parents in Spanish Harlem, Bataan briefly led a street gang and spent time in a correctional facility on a stolen car charge before emerging in the mid '60s to author his own unique blend of boogaloo, doo wop, and soul. Bataan's sound caught the ears of Fania Records, who signed him for a string of eight successful albums before Bataan left to co-found the Salsoul label -- he also came up with the name, a combination of salsa and soul -- where he recorded three albums, of which this record was the first.

You'll hear a little disco and funk mixed in with the salsa and soul on this release, whose 'East Coast Side' and 'West Coast Side' were recorded on opposite sides of the country. But no matter where Bataan laid down the tracks, he made sure to get the best musicians -- playing on Afrofilipino is a veritable who's who of session cats including Richard Tee, John Faddis, Cornell Dupree, Randy Brecker, and David Sanborn. Rock Steady' days far behind him by the time he recorded this album, his first with producer Lloyd Charmers and his first for the legendary Trojan label.

Mahoney's Last Stand. They work on a soundtrack for an obscure film by actor and friend Alexis Kanner most famous for his guest roles on the lates TV series The Prisoner , and draft the uppermost rank of British rock royalty to play on it! Indeed, given the pedigree of the personnel on this project, it is rather stunning how obscure this album from Faces members Ron Wood and Ronnie Lane remains, having only been issued on CD abroad and for a brief time at that and never reissued on LP ; one suspects it has much to do with the flop of the film which appears to have only been screened at the Canadian Film Festival , and the fact that the original LP was released four years after it was recorded in As for the music, much of it has a rustic, rural feel in keeping with the film's setting, which follows the misadventures of a recluse who rents a ramshackle farm in the Canadian countryside, with some nods 'Woody's Thing' towards the blues-rock Wood would explore with Keith Richards in the Stones.

But without a doubt the highlight is Lane's 'Just for a Moment,' which is here in both vocal and instrumental versions; it's a prime example of the wistful roots rock that made Lane's post-Faces solo career so compelling. For the first-ever vinyl reissue of this overlooked gem, we've pressed up copies in green vinyl Merry Clayton. We already reissued the first one, Gimme Shelter , on vinyl; now we're coming back with her self-titled second album, which, like the first, has never seen a vinyl reissue prior to our release. Limited edition of in maroon vinyl! Music To Eat. Legend has it that it was undersold only by a yoga instructional album.

Well, because in the some years since its release, the Hampton Grease Band's Music To Eat has steadily ascended the list of Greatest Cult Records of All Time so that now it resides at the tippety-top. Indeed, modern-day jam bands genuflect at the sight of the trippy cover art alone Col. But what makes this record even more special is the way it points the way forward as well as back. Yes, you can hear echoes of their more famous, improvisationally-minded contemporaries, but the offhand guitar riffs, frenzied instrumental passages, stylistic about-faces, and deadpan vocals bring to mind nothing other than a psychedelicized Minutemen and David Thomas of Pere Ubu sounds a lot like Col.

In short, this isn't your dad's psychedelic rock album, nor is it your son's jam band record. This is music that stands apart from time and style, a true example of Weird America. That's why original copies command ridiculous sums; and now, Real Gone Music is proud to present the first-ever LP reissue of Music To Eat in a peach vinyl edition limited to copies, complete with the original astounding gatefold artwork.

This record will change you Bruce Hampton. Germfree Adolescents. The one and only LP release from X Ray Spex and its irrepressible frontwoman Poly Styrene has been deemed by everybody from Greil Marcus to Robert Christgau to Spin to Mojo as one of the greatest punk albums ever made, and for this reissue, we've done it right; besides the clear vinyl offering excellent sound , we've reproduced the inner lyric sheet, where you can read Poly's brilliant observations about the plastic, corporate nature of modern society.

All of which she sings in a passionate yowl all her own with Lora Logic among others backing on saxophone ; this is not only one of the most penetratingly observant punk records, it's also one of the most passionate, and, surprisingly enough, catchy.

Monk Higgins is not what you would call a household name, but hip hop crate diggers know him well; his catalog's been sampled about times! Higgins recorded as a bandleader for the Dunhill, United Artists, and Buddah labels, but without a doubt the most hotly sought-after album he ever made was Extra Soul Perception , the one-off record he cut in for the Solid State label, the United Artists jazz imprint started by jazz arranger Manny Albam, producer Sonny Lester, and legendary engineer Phil Ramone.

Backed by a crack band consisting of guitarist Arthur Adams and drummer John Guerin probably best known for his work on Joni Mitchell's Court and Spark among other accomplished session cats, Higgins' warm, earthy tenor tackles a mixture of originals and funk-infused covers of songs like 'Little Green Apples' and 'Canadian Sunset,' deftly threading the needle between commercial and uncompromising throughout.

For its first-ever vinyl repress, we have preserved the unusual 'unipak' design of the original LP, and have pressed up copies in limited edition translucent blue vinyl. Honeybeat: Groovy 60s Girl-Pop. Yeah, that's what we thought, too. And man, was that a good decision -- cause Sheila and Sony Legacy producer Rob Santos have emerged triumphantly from their journey into the deepest nooks and crannies of the Sony vaults with 19 fantastic girl pop finds that sound like they should've been, could've been hits had anybody heard them the first time around!

Just to give you an idea of how deep these tracks are, these 19 songs hail from no less than nine different labels Columbia, Date, RCA Victor, Epic, Bell, OKeh, Sound Stage 7, Groove, and Amy ; about a third of them have never been reissued anywhere one, Dorothy Jones' 'Talk That Sweet Talk,' is previously unreleased , and the rest have only appeared on obscure imports, some of dubious origin. What's more, for her detailed liner notes, Sheila has whenever possible tracked down and interviewed the artist s in question, in some cases stirring up long dormant and emotionally charged memories of their days in the music business, with rare, never before seen photos lending color to their accounts.

Remastered by Vic Anesini at Battery Studios in New York, Honeybeat: Groovy 60s Girl Pop offers a treasure trove of rarities for the girl group collector, a seamless listen for a vintage pop fan, and a much-needed journey back to a more innocent time in the record business.

Special note for vinyl collectors: Sheila has also selected and sequenced 14 of the 19 tracks for a special gram, violet vinyl gatefold edition limited to copies! Hailing from Saginaw, Michigan, this group of Mexican-American teenagers had all the bona-fides collectors of '60s cool cherish -- the name, derived from a Japanese horror film; the sound, an insistent, three chord beat powered by that unmistakable Vox organ tone; and, of course, the sunglasses-shod Question Mark himself, who claims to have been born on Mars and lived among the dinosaurs in a past life.

Always a follower of popular trends in music, Ginsberg had spent parts of digging into Ray Charles' 'I Got A Woman' -- occasionally doing so while on morphine and methamphetamine. One evening, in this drug-induced state while cranking some Ray, Ginsberg began discussing his mother Naomi with his pal Zev Putterman.

Putterman in turn, began reciting the traditional Hebrew 'Kaddish' prayer for mourning the dead. In early , Kaddish received its debut performance at a poetry reading at Columbia University -- in which Allen shared the bill with his lover Peter Orlovsky and fellow beat poet Gregory Corso. Over time, the manuscript was tweaked and adjusted until publication in April by City Lights. Then, in November , with Orlovsky and Corso in tow, the trio performed several gigs at Harvard and Brandeis Universities, and it was at Brandeis where this recording was made.

Released in , Kaddish turned out to be the only record in Atlantic's spoken-word Verbum series; but if label head Jerry Wexler changed his mind about the imprint, he remained a big fan of the work, later telling Los Angeles historian Harvey Kubernik that Kaddish had stirred 'the Yiddish currents in my own blood' and inspired 'joy and anguish. Real Gone Music is very proud to present the first-ever vinyl reissue of this landmark performance, in its original gatefold packaging with an added inner sleeve featuring new liner notes by Pat Thomas and memorabilia provided by the Allen Ginsberg estate.

Cowboy Boogie - Randy Travis (letra da música) - Cifra Club

Limited edition of in red vinyl! Poetry For The Beat Generation. Kerouac had completely bombed in his first set during a engagement at the Village Vanguard when TV personality, comedian, and musician Steve Allen volunteered to accompany him on piano during the second. The results were so impressive that legendary engineer Bob Thiele then brought the duo into the studio to record an album for Dot Records. In true, stream-of-consciousness, Beat fashion, the entire album was cut in one session with one take for each track, Allen's piano weaving in and out and occasionally commenting on Kerouac's verbal riffs to great effect.

However, when Poetry For The Beat Generation was ready for release in March , Randy Wood, the president of Dot Records, was appalled by the then-daring language and subject matter and canceled the release. Thiele then left the company over the dispute and got the master tape in the bargain, which he finally released on the Hanover label which he founded with Allen in June That release still stands as one of the most momentous spoken word albums not just of the '50s but of all time.

Live At The Paradiso. The trio of Robert Wyatt on drums and vocals, Mike Ratledge on organ, and Hugh Hopper on bass launch what can only be called a high-decibel, jazz-rock sonic assault; 'Like vindaloo for the ears' is how Hopper puts it on the accompanying notes on the inner sleeve, adding, 'I do remember playing incredibly loud, Mike on fuzz organ and me on fuzz bass, both through hundred-watt Marshall stacks.

This is the first-ever vinyl release of this notorious concert, and it comes on 'soft' purple vinyl limited to copies. Anybody interested in just how far out rock got in the late '60s will want to give this repeated listens. Limited restock, blue vinyl LP version; edition of When Jodorowsky arrived in New York from Mexico City in carrying a copy of the then-unreleased El Topo , it was the jazz producer Alan Douglas who bought the distribution rights to the film.

And when Jodorowsky wanted, in his words, 'another kind of music -- something that wasn't entertainment, something that wasn't a show, something that went to the soul, something profound,' for the soundtrack to The Holy Mountain , forward came jazz legend Don Cherry and crack studio musician and one-time Archie Ron Frangipane to share composing and along with Jodorowsky conducting duties. And, boy, did they deliver -- the score to The Holy Mountain is every bit as hallucinatory as the fantastic visual imagery in the film itself. The deep, primordial chants that begin the movie, 'Trance Mutation,' give way to an almost jaunty percussion-and-plucked-strings melody, 'Pissed and Passed Out.

Then there is 'Christs 4 Sale,' a blaring orchestral riff that sounds like it was ripped from a 's swords-and-sandals epic. The next track, 'Cast Out and Pissed,' begins with a beelike buzz, then is overwhelmed by a cacophony of drums, horns, and, finally, screaming. Onscreen, a group of young prostitutes prays in a church. One of them later walks arm and arm with a chimpanzee.
