After that, we pulled some Christmas Crackers and settled down for a cupcake and some juice to refresh ourselves after a very fun-filled Christmas treat! It was a pleasure to witness all of the children filled with so much Christmas Cheer after a very busy two terms at school. Well done Foxes and Squirrels, you deserved these little treats! It was finally the day of our Christmas performance! After many, many practices, it was amazing to see it all come together! The Foxes and Squirrels were absolutely amazing!

Welcome to Class 3 - Squirrels

The children said their lines brilliantly, sang beautifully and joined in with the actions fabulously! The adults were so proud of all of the children! As our Star said, "We hope you enjoyed our Christmas story! This Friday was our first Celebration Assembly! The Foxes and Squirrels were so excited to tell the rest of the school all about our learning during our Topic, 'On the Move'. Some children talked about their super paintings of Thomas the Tank Engine and friends. One of the Foxes talked about how steam engines work and how trains have changed over time.

Mr. and Mrs Squirrel - Animals Paint By Numbers

Some of the children talked about the emergency vehicles that they painted, including how the people that use them help us. Finally, some children showed off their super descriptive writing about different types of cars. It is fair to say that the teachers and children were incredibly proud of all of our hard work! We also lead the school assembly song; we chose 'Wake Up, Wake Up', as we have been practicing this song a lot this term! Well done, Foxes and Squirrels! This week, the Foxes and Squirrels observed their first Remembrance. We talked about the significance of poppies and the children very respectfully observed the one minute silence at 11 o'clock.

This week, we also enjoyed coming to school in our spotty clothes and Pudsey accessories! The children looked fantastic!

What a super start to our new term, Foxes and Squirrels! We went to assembly, and when we came back, there were Little Pig footprints and Billy Goat's Gruff footprints through each of the classrooms!

Squirrel's New Year's Resolution

The animals had left notes with 2 challenges for us to have a go at throughout the day. The 3 Little Pigs asked us to make a strong house for them to hide in away from the Big Bad Wolf - it needed to be strong enough so that the Big Bad Wolf would not be able to blow it down! The Billy Goats Gruff asked us to make a sturdy bridge that was also quiet enough for them to go over without the troll hearing them!

All of the characters left us lots of different materials to make our houses and bridges, and the children had to decide which materials would be best to use. The children were very inventive when designing and building their houses and bridges, they had some super ideas! The Year 6 House Captains also came down to help the children, and they were absolutely fantastic; the Foxes and Squirrels loved sharing their ideas with the older children. It is safe to say our first STEM day was a big hit, and we hope the children came home and told you all about what we had been doing!

This week, our Foxes and Squirrels had a visit from a few members of the local community - not 1, but 3 vets! We were so excited as we had been talking about what animals need in order to be safe, healthy and happy, so we were very eager to share our knowledge with our visitors! First, we enjoyed a bit of talking time, talking about what pets we had at home. We then shared our knowledge about looking after pets with the vets, and all three of them were very impressed! Each of the vets checked Dale over; they checked his heart using a stethoscope, they checked his teeth, and he even had his nails clipped!

Overall, the vets said that we were looking after Dale brilliantly! The Foxes and Squirrels were then given a bit of a challenge! It was fantastic to see our Foxes and Squirrels showing members of the community how super we are at Cliffedale, well done!

We have had another super week in EYFS! The children are really settling into school routines and we are really seeing their love of learning shining through. The Foxes and Squirrels are really getting to grips with the classroom and we are seeing some super independent learning!

Mrs. Squirrel and Hazel (Little Books)

It has been lovely to see and hear about so many of the children practicing some new skills at home, too. This week, the children have particularly enjoyed exploring our Home Corner, which is always a popular area of the classroom! There has been some super learning going on in EYFS, this week!

We have been busy learning about repeating patterns; many of the children have been developing their own repeating patterns, using the resources in the classrooms, and at home! The team have been incredibly impressed with the children's love of learning, which we have particularly seen within their Phonics. We enjoyed practicing our letter formation on large rolls of paper, and lots of the children have been choosing to practice their letters, which is fantastic! The Foxes and Squirrels also enjoyed some time playing with the parachute as part of PE this week.

All of the hard work that the children have been putting into their art work recently has really paid off! Well done on a fantastic week, Foxes and Squirrels! We have a had a busy week, this week, in EYFS! The Foxes and Squirrels have attended various assemblies, over the week; including our whole school Celebration Assembly!
