All in all, the book itself was a let down. Mar 02, Mandie rated it it was amazing. Series just got better with each book. Feb 25, Veralynne Malone rated it liked it. However, the reason the novel remains unfinished has everything to do with its content, and so I am providing my feedback. Let me first establish my credentials: I love to read. Before I had kids, I could finish a book in a day; even now, with kids, I finished the last three Harry Potter books in less than I will be the first to admit that this is an unfair book review. Before I had kids, I could finish a book in a day; even now, with kids, I finished the last three Harry Potter books in less than twenty-four hours.

Furthermore, I have a history with Tim LaHaye.

I loved the Left Behind books, and looked forward to the Babylon Rising series with great anticipation. However, after taking a week to wade through the fourth novel, I finally stalled out on page Most of the problems stem from the first three books in the series. I have already expressed my unhappiness with them in individual reviews. I will not rehash them. Part of the problem also came from the third book, which other reviewers have called the worst of at least the first three.

What, then, can I say? The characters stayed fairly true to what was already set. I was curious to see if Issis converted though of course I know she will. I am very disappointed in this series.

Edge of Darkness, The Babylon Rising Series #4

Having read the Soon series by Jerry Jenkins the co-author to Left Behind , I have concluded that he must have done the primary authorship of that series. He is a very powerful writer. I am sure there were some people who enjoyed — and even finished! I am not one of them. Reading it was painful to me. Sep 18, Paul Finch rated it it was ok Recommends it for: Christians and those interested in fundamentalist Christian thinking.

Similiar to that series and the films in that series, this series is about Christians in our day which live in the prophesied days prior to the futuristic Biblical Armageddon. This story is just introducing some of the prophecies prior to the coming of the Anti-Christ. In all of the books in these series, one grows to love the characters, while learning to see things through a fundamentalist Christian go This is book 4 of the Babylon Rising series by one of the authors of the Left Behind Series. In all of the books in these series, one grows to love the characters, while learning to see things through a fundamentalist Christian good vs evil, more black and white and less gray way.

This book ends with the False Prophet about to begin his worldwide ministry, before revealing the Anti-Christ who takes over the world and persecutes Christians. Here is a list from one of his classes of things that have grown out of demon-related thinking or philosphy: Seeing Christian churches getting more demonized, he sees them ripe for the One World Religion that the False Prophet will introduce before the killing of true Christians will start. Anyway, going back to the book, the series, etc.. Murphy is in the way of Satan, as are all followers of Christ in this day and age.

He survives alot, thanks to prayer, but most of his loved ones aren't as fortunate, but it all does strengthen his faith as he overcomes so much loss and physical attacks, etc.. I liked the book, the series, and like the Left Behind Series, it helps me to understand the fundamentalist perspective--where it comes from--so to not buy into the characature of fundamentalism that is so predominant today among both the more progressive Christians and non-Christians.

It is an authentic response to a worldview that even Muslim and Hindu fundamentalists see as very black and white. Jan 18, R. Riddle rated it really liked it Recommends it for: Babylon Rising, Book 4 Publisher: This series of books satisfies both as it is dealing with history prewritten prophecy and upon the Bible.

In The Edge of Darkness we find Michael Murphy engaged in plenty of action, intrigue, adventure, and romance. All of this wrapped around Biblical events; in this case, events surrounding the capture of the Ark of the Covenant by the Philistines and what happened in the temple of Dagon. As with the previous books the characters of Murphy, Methuselah, and Talon dominate.

It all leads up to a final confrontation between Murphy and Talon that has the reader on the edge of his or her seat.

Behind the scenes the mysterious group known only as the Seven continue to plot for world domination and the introduction of De La Rosa the False Prophet? People with Biblical knowledge quickly recognize the signs preceding the coming Tribulation. Finally, there is the conclusion to the story and possibly the series. We are left with questions regarding Murphy and Isis, Talon's replacement, the introduction of the Anti-Christ, and more.
