My son loves this set of books. They are fun stories with great messages and bible verses. We use it as a bible story option at night. My Grandson loved it. Through the story, the cubs talk about faith helping them through scary situations. Since this is a beginning reader level book, I think the flow of the story is fitting. It is not very deep, but it allows new readers to read about The Berenstain Bears and I like that.

Now, she is not afraid of as much, but she is still afraid of spooky shadows. This story follows Sister through being teased by Brother Bear and Papa Bear showing her how to make shadow animals on the wall. This helped her with her fear and she decides to play a trick on Brother Bear. I found this story enjoyable in one way, but I am not sure the Bible verses were used in the best manner. I did like that the Bible verses were used as I think it can help kids see the importance of memorizing Bible verses. Piggy Bank Blessings follows the Bear Cubs as they learn about money.

The Berenstain Bears Follow God's Word by Jan Berenstain

In the beginning of this story, the cubs want to know why they can not get everything. Mamma Bear then goes on to give them a piggy bank and have them do chores to earn money.

The Berenstain Bears in the Dark

As the story moves on the Cubs decide to spend the money and Mamma Bear starts panicking that the Cubs are wasting the money. In a surprising twist, Mamma Bear is touched by the way the Cubs spent their money. I liked that this story teaches about money, but again, I was disappointed by their use of Scripture. The Cubs end up using it to buy a gift for Mamma Bear. While this is good, what about tithing?

Mamma Bear is happy in the end that they spent the money on her instead of blowing it, but I found this a little selfish on her part and the story lacking the Biblical foundation on saving money it seemed to be trying to present. Overall, I was disappointed with the Biblical content of these stories. I think it is great they are trying to make Berenstain Bear books with Christian messages, but I feel like they are forcing it instead of creating a quality book around the Biblical messages. I would have enjoyed the stories better if they did not try to fill it with Biblical content that did not fit.

Though Stan died in , and Jan in , Mike continues to create the delightful Bear adventures from their studio in Pennsylvania, in an area that looks much like the sunny dirt road deep in Bear Country. My children love The Berenstain Bears! We own the books and the movies.

I love them because of the character messages they send my children. But recently they started incorporating God more into their message and I really love that. My children don't care what message they send, they just love them. This particular book has three different stories in it and is a level 1, I Can Read book. See and discover other items: What a wonderful this story is and so true to many a family life. The Berenstain Bears have always been wonderful, but the Go to Sunday School story is a great one to share and explain to family how great going to church and Sunday School can be, even for a bear. I highly recommend this story for families, especially those with kids ages This and all the other Berenstain Bear books, especially the newest ones coming from Mike Berenstain, son to the creators Jan and Stan.

How busy is your life? Can you find time for church and Sunday School as a family? It's been years since I have read any of the adventures with the Berenstain Bears, but it was definitely a strong part of my earliest childhood that I have spare memories of. The Berenstain Bears and the Golden Rule is a winner in my opinion and a shelf keeper for every family.

Sister Bear gets to learn more about that phrase she knows so well, but has never really considered. This classic is a wonderful learning tool for any child and I strongly recommend it. On the inside of the back cover is a reader's guide, which I do not remember as a child, but has great questions to further the learning and understanding of a reader.

What a wonderful experience spending time with the Berenstain Bears is, I cannot wait for more!
