The ultimate showdown between Elysetta Baristani and her nemesis Vadim Maur has finally arrived but Elysetta and Rain still have not been able to complete their mating bond and he is struggling against his inescapable descent into madness. The divisions among those who will need to work together to defeat the overwhelming army that the mages have amassed seem insurmountable.

Elysetta is handicapped by her four Mage Marks and resisting the pull to use Azrahn is difficult when those around her are threatened. The insiduous campaign by the Primages continues to suborn key figures and only a concerted effort by all who fight for the Light will give the allies a chance at preventing enslavement of all of them.

A wonderful conclusion to the enthralling series which has introduced so many wonderful characters, especially those who comprise the fascinating tairen pride. The unabashedly romantic relationships between the powerful beings that people this series are inspiring while the evil that is described is chilling to the extreme.

It is easy to understand the gradual progression that leads the naive Elysetta on her remarkble journey to become the beloved of the Tairen Soul while fighting against the terrifying predictions that show her as the downfall of all peoples who are good and righteous. An interesting reflection of the necessity for tolerance and the way that time alters perceptions. Ellysetta Baristani has won the heart of the Fey King -- the magnificent Rain, her ally and her love -- fought at his side against the armies of Eld, and saved the offspring of the magical tairen.

But the most powerful and dangerous Verse of her Song is yet to be sung. We lose a few good friends, inevitable in the face of war, but sad to say that final farewell. The High Mage has huge plans, thought out over millennia, and while he succeeds on some level, Ms.

Crown of Crystal Flame

I literally would let book in hand fall to my lap and my head drop back to the top of the couch, insides twisting with despair. This book is filled with those types of moments.

I, of course, kept reading, letting that despair then be overwhelmed by curiosity, only to plunge headlong back into that former state. Back and forth it went over and over again. And all of that is nothing compared to the moment Ellie and the High Mage do come face to face. Her parents, who have been in his evil, torturous hands for centuries, are used against her. Her twin sisters, who are recently his prisoners, are used against her. And what happens next is astonishing. More than I could have imagined.

Ellie is beautiful indeed. I knew there would be times during my reading that tears would threaten. The most poignant and surprising came with Annoura, Queen of Celieria, who is a character many have come to dislike somewhat in the last couple of books. I find my heart softening. But not having read the words of the talented C.

Wilson is such a shame for any reader. Trust me on that one. If I could add another ten, fifty, a hundred, or even more pluses after my review grade for this book, I certainly would.

Tairen Soul Series - Wikipedia

It deserves that and so much more. A Song of Love won her heart. A Song of Darkness haunted her soul. A Song in the Dance would seal her fate. Seers had long foreseen an extraordinary destiny for Ellysetta Baristani. Already she had won the heart of the Fey King? She had saved the offspring of the magical tairen and fought beside her legendary mate against the armies of Eld. But the most powerful—and dangerous—Verse of her Song had yet to be sung.

As the final battle draws nigh and evil tightens its grip upon her soul—will Ellysetta secure the world for Light or plunge it into Darkness for all eternity? I do have the first book here, and just recently moved it to my bedside table in the hope that I will read it soon. LOL huge, huge gasp, Marg! This is a series you want to read in order, no doubt about it, so leaving Crown at Netgalley was a good choice.

You need to know these characters from book to book. Be sure to stick around for the day here, we have C. Wilson as a guest pretty much all day! I teared up at totally unexpected events — I also thought there were small, poignant moments written in very quiet scenes that I felt myself sniffling again. Thank you so much for such a phenomenal review, Sandy!

One of the absolute best parts about writing this series, has been meeting so many wonderful people who share so many of the same loves I do. I, too, thank you for picking that book up Sandy because I think it was your review that made me buy it after Amazon had recommended it to me. I would have regretted missing out on such a wonderful story over the past few years.
