It's up to her to determine which of them is truly the "gentleman. I would recommend it to those who like modern Christian romance with a "beachy-chocolate" theme. I mean, doesn't everybody deserve another chance to get it right? Sep 14, Donald Parker rated it it was amazing. Awesome story by a really sweet woman. Feb 11, Katherine rated it really liked it Shelves: Feb 17, Cookielover rated it it was amazing Shelves: I loved the book.

I liked the originality of it and the mention if chocolate. Jun 16, Rita L. This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. Honestly, I wanted to like this book. I felt like the main character was just a jerk - there were things that she needed to do, and instead of doing them, she whined about not getting enough from her friends. Unfortunately, it has not inspired me to read any of the rest of the series, sorry.

Jun 22, Nicole rated it it was ok Shelves: If you are going to have a character speak some in French then make sure it is correct. The French was from one character with Gaby using Spanish to express herself. Plus, while Gaby is a chocolate lover, I really did not understand the significance of the title. She and her friend regularly indulge in brownies and she has the occasional truffle but, from the title, I expected her to be running a chocolate shop: Again, a little pretension.

Jun 09, Jan Mcleod rated it it was ok. Two stars is the best I can do with this book. It was hard to stay with the story and I really wanted to delete it. Not only does the main character, Gaby, act like a juvenile, but there are just too many crisis and unfortunate happenings. This is supposed to be a Christian genre, but it is seriously lacking in its attempt. In all honesty, I cannot recommend this book. What walls need breaking God often needs to use circumstances to break through the emotional and spiritual walls that entrap us.

Several characters are bound by fear and difficult pasts. But God broke through to reveal true freedom on him. Carobini has written an amazingly encouraging story revealing God's love. Sep 16, Jean Holtof rated it really liked it. It took me a while to decide if I liked this story but I persevered and ending up enjoying it. Full of quirky characters, Gaby, a walking disaster magnet, Max, mister nice guy, NOT, Jake, the generous travelling landlord, Gaby's faithful friend and Mum, good old mum who can do no wrong!

A very colourful story with yummy truffles to sweeten things up. I'm not sure I have read Author Julie Carobini before. Her writing is in first person and character Gaby did a lot of musing to herself, which was a little off putting. I liked the differences of the neighborhood characters. I also liked the change reflected in Gaby's character as she gave herself to follow God's plan for her life. Overall I enjoyed the book,.

So many to choose from!! This was a cute book, wasn't sure I would enjoy it as I am more into historical romance, but this was good. The story moved along well and came with a few surprises I did not see coming. I look forward to reading more from this author. Once I got more into it, I enjoyed it! For a while there, I was just wondering what on Earth was going to happen because things just kept spinning more and more out of control. The ending was nice, too. Like d the first one and am eager to read the rest.

Eager to read the rest of the series. The first one was funny and entertaining. Enjoyed the characters and the quirky plot twists.

Truffles By The Sea

Meet Gabby and Jake Gabby is hit with one problem aftet another. She keeos ak7ng God for guidance. Then she rents a room from Jake. Slowly she realizes God is answering her prayers. Just goes to show, if ee wait on Gods time things will work out. Disappointment I didn't really care for the characters or plot. Kept reading to see if it would improve. Choppy at points in the story. Don't spend your time on this book. Jul 03, Barbara J.

I thought it went on a bit too long, though, because it started to drag a bit in the middle. Gaby is sweet and a little down on her luck at the moment, but from what I've seen she'd rather whine than pull herself up and get on with life.

Even so, you can easily find yourself rooting for her. With so many things going wrong for her at once, you could almost think it'd be too unrealistic, but the way it was written makes you almost believe it's really real. Loved Jake from the beginning. He was sort of mysterious at first, but the more we got to know him, the better I liked him.

Of course I liked Max in the beginning, too, but it didn't take long for his true colors to shine through.

Live Mama to pieces! And of course Gaby's friends were a real hoot, too. One person found this helpful. Honestly, I wanted to like this book. Typical romance, nice story line, well developed characters.

Enjoyed reading the book. Ionia Froment Top Contributor: With all of the holiday craziness going on right now, what I needed was a book that could take me away and let me experience another life for a little while.

This book did exactly that. I found myself wound up in the lives of the characters from the beginning, and every time I would have to set this book down, I was eager to pick it up again. This story starts out with a woman who is having a rough patch in her life and quickly turns into a book that makes you laugh, makes you hope and pulls you into a different place. I like the way the author made her main character humble. I found it was easy to like her and identify with the things she thought. The secondary characters in this book are well formed and vivid.

I stayed up late reading this book and really enjoyed the time away from everything else. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a relaxing, entertaining read. I will look for more books from this author. When you are reading a book and lose all track of time, don't look at the clock until you're finished, and realize it's almost midnight, then you know it's good.

This story moves along at a much better pace. It's the follow-up, Gaby's story, and much better. Gaby is knocked for a loop when her delivery guy steals everything from her florist shop, her apartment burns down, and she's sued for ruining a wedding with her "ugly" flowers. She tries to make a new start, but it's a struggle. Finding the right man for her is also difficult. There were only a few minor errors.

I would have liked it better if faith had played a more integral part in the story and not seemed just tacked on, but it was still a clean, interesting read. I found this 2nd book in the series easier to read than the first. I enjoyed the first, but I think I related better with Gaby.

She's sweet, but far from perfect, and you can easily find yourself rooting for her.

With so many things going wrong for her at once, you could almost think it'd be too unrealistic, but it's written well enough that you don't feel that way at all. And appearances and tie-ins with characters from the first book make it feel like you're part of the family. If you liked the first book, I'm sure you'll like this one too. Josey Jacques Top Contributor: I love a story that is infused with humor, and a romance that isn't utterly predictable which most are.

This novel is both. The reason I'm docking it a star is that it has a lot of missing commas and other typos. The author needs to do a more thorough proofreading job. Other than that, if you're looking for a sweet, clean, light-hearted romance that will have you smiling throughout, I think this book will do the trick. It took me a while to decide if I liked this story but I persevered and ending up enjoying it.
