The room was very cozy, and clean, but I had to use the community shower, which was very clean also. The restaurant at the hotel was very good food, and the price was fair. I really liked being in the park, and this hotel took care of my lodging needs. Date of stay: November Trip type: Travelled solo.

What a blessing for us! The staff was significantly friendlier. The assistant manager at El Tovar was downright rude to us and to other staff, but here at Bright Angel, the staff was friendly, helpful and very welcoming. Our room was canyon view in a different building, and what a view!

The room was small with two double beds but very clean with a Keurig and mini-fridge. We arrived after a snow storm so parking was a bit of a challenge, but nothing too difficult. We had dinner in the steak restaurant and while perhaps a bit pricey the food and service were phenomenal. We will happily return to the Bright Angel next time we return to the Grand Canyon.

We stayed in , and it was outstanding. Absolutely magical. In the morning I was in bed, drinking coffee, and watching the sun rise over the Grand Canyon.

From bed. You can't get any more majestic than that in my book. Staff was friendly and helpful, and check-in was a breeze. The room was spotless, and recently updated. The bed was very comfortable. The fireplace worked flawlessly. It's electric and even has a timer. I cannot stress enough how absolutely perfect this room and our stay here was. Date of stay: December Value.

Room Tip: and it's attached cabin, , look to be the best two views you can get. Florida contributions 51 helpful votes. Amazing location. We booked this lodge due to the location.

How to Hike the South Kaibab and Bright Angel Trail in One Day | Earth Trekkers

The room itself was small and cozy, and we had our own bathroom. We could hear everything through the walls, though, so once once person in the building woke up for the day pretty much the whole building was awake. The water in the shower was very sensitive and fluctuated frequently, so our showers would quickly cycle through scalding hot to freezing cold in a matter of seconds. This is definitely the perfect location for visiting the South Rim, though.

Bright Angel Trail

If you are going to be up and out of the room and not return until bedtime, only sleeping there, then maybe not. But Thunderbird and Maswick are your standard horizontal, no imagination American hotel rooms. The cabins have more charm, or atmosphere, and if you get one on the rim there is a view. However, be aware that the view is not as grand as imagined because landscaping has grown up to partially obscure the view and the cabins are up and back from the rim enough so that you look across, not into, the canyon.

Still, given that Bright Angel is a historic inn it could be worth checking off a bucket list. Orlando, Fl 34 contributions 17 helpful votes. Answer from carterranch. National Park fees or park pass. Kneedavacay wrote a tip 6 Jan.

There are more places to choose from in the Grand Canyon National Park area. A tunnel blasted through a cliff wall is a popular highlight not far from the trailhead For those intent on going farther, another tunnel, as well as steeper and tighter switchbacks, await not far below.

The knee-grinding descent stays pretty much constant for nearly 4 miles as the trail winds downward in an arm of the greater canyon. The trail gets sunnier, dustier, and hotter as you go down, but the views get better and better as the walls grow taller above and the canyon grows wider ahead. They may be turned off in the colder months.

Eventually, the gradient lessens as the trail nears Indian Garden. When the sun is less intense, fit hikers may want to continue on Bright Angel Trail or take the side trip to a mid-canyon panorama at Plateau Point. Hemmed by multi-hued sandstone, brimming with cottonwoods and cane plants, and teeming with birds and deer, this flowing stream would itself be a highlight hike of any other national park. Crossing both muddy seeps and dusty sections on the way down, the trail finally meets a dry wash at the bottom and meanders toward the river.

The creek from before rejoins the trail shortly, and both continue together, around one bend and then the next. The echo of water from the stream builds as the canyon grows deeper, and the Colorado River seems tantalizingly close. There is a resthouse here but no water.

The final 1. You can see thousands of feet above to towers of yellow sandstone near the North Rim, but the rim itself remains hidden from view. Continue a bit farther to see Phantom Ranch, and go inside to buy a drink or even a hot meal, and to send a postcard delivered by mule. Take time to rest up, refuel, and make the return journey to the rim.
