    Well located with nice dog proof garden. Stairs were a bit tricky as they are very steep but beds were really comfy. We were disappointed that there were only 3 mugs in the kitchen?? But everything else was perfect. Thank you. On the face of it, Thimble Cottage seemed to be everything we wanted for a ten-day break.

    But whilst the location was ideal, it really let itself down in the finer details, primarily because there is a very small step between fashionable shabby-chic and uncared-for shabby, and this cottage is far too near the second to be acceptable. Paint flaking off walls; plaster falling off the stairs; damp stains starting to come through the paintwork and cobwebs in the window frames both inside and out, a poorly equipped kitchen no potato masher, a frying pan with chipped non-stick finish, no food preparation knives other than a breadknife and a 7" carving knife; just three odd mugs; no microwave bowls suitable for small portions; and no spare rubbish bags provided -- to name but a few.

    The servicing company were helpful and efficient, both before our stay and during - even to the point of replacing broken items within a couple of hours. Full marks for that, but it's what one would expect from the on-line reviews - almost all of which are about the company rather than the property. However, the information sent to us totally omitted mention of the narrow, steep stairs a feature we normally try to avoid ; the almost non-existent mobile reception even walking out to the main road made no difference ; the lack of a freezer and the addition of a washing machine which would have been useful to know.

    None of these factors spoilt our break in Suffolk, but they didn't contribute positively to a trouble-free, relaxing break - which is what we were looking for. So we are unlikely to return, which is a shame because it is - potentially - a beautiful little cottage in an ideal location to tour the area. Lovely cottage peaceful and quiet. Great location to access all of Suffolk beauty spots. Catered for all our needs and would highly recommend. Would come again. We enjoyed our week here. Excellent location for visiting the Suffolk coast. The cottage is full of character, and had everything we needed.

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at Thimble Cottage. I am saddened to hear of your experience and sorry to hear you would not return. The day of your arrival our Housekeeping Manager checked Thimble around midday and there was no obvious evidence of any leaks or flooding in the house. If this was the case it would of been addressed immediately. As you mention when when we were aware of the problem we sent a plumber straight out, it was unfortunate that the problem could not be resolved straight away, as a part was required which could not be supplied until the day next.

    We do apologise that this caused you not to enjoy your stay with us. If we had known of your dissatisfaction at the time we would of moved you to another property close by. As you were aware the weather during this time was extremely unusual with heavy snow and zero temperatures and all services were working extremely hard under difficult circumstances to try and rectify any problems.
