I simply couldn't put down such an inspiring read! I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking to find inspiration in this difficult time of I recently finished reading Love Casts Out Fear by Brother Nathan. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking to find inspiration in this difficult time of conflict and violence in the Middle East.

I received this book from the publisher in exchange for my fair and honest review. May 20, Sue Jackson rated it liked it. This is a fascinating autobiography of a Christian boy-to-man in Egypt. Brother Nathan shows how difficult it was and still is to be a Christian living in a primarily Muslim country.

His first person account sheds some light into what it must have been like to live and later to minister in a place like Egypt. Brother Nathan stopped being an angry and revengeful person and became a strong forgiving man of faith. Although I believe and appreciate what he experienced, there needed to be more detail. It was like he had an epiphany and suddenly felt no more anger. Shortly after he had a renewed passion for the Christian ministry like his father.

There needed to be more showing the inner struggles that he must have felt. He talks of his wife and kids but doesn't bring them into his story. Because of that, the book lacked some emotion in what had to be a difficult situation. Knowing how it impacted his family would have broadened the perspective. It could have shown the fear, and frustration, and the successes they felt as a family.

Overall, this is a good book that tells of his personal experiences. It lets us see some of the expectations and customs of that area. Also, it helps us understand some of what he had to go through as a Christian in a Muslim world. And, it shows how his faith allowed him the freedom to love and forgive. Perhaps because it parallels my personal journey I found this book spiritually uplifting. Granted, the persecution Brother Nathan has experienced much more overt. It saddens me that it is global in nature even now. I applaud his courage and tenacity. In the book Love Casts Out Fear, authors Brother Nathan and David Culross tell the story of Brother Nathan, who when he was a child witnessed an horrible attack on his father which change the course of his life.

I would have enjoyed more detail about this speech as well as more detailed personal stories of love instead of violence during the recent events in Egypt.

    • I have no doubt that he has lived this out among his people in Egypt and I am thankful to hear that there are many Christ followers responding with love in the face of evil on a daily basis in places I have never been. I only wish there was more time spent on this central element of the Christian faith throughout this book. Thank you to Baker Books for providing this book for review. I am a very curious person and crave to know what others think about life, about how they deal with certain situations, and about their personal experiences.

    Learning about other people allows us to enter into their story, to see life through their eyes, and vicariously experience new things. In Love Casts Out Fear, Brother Nathan tells the story of his life; of how he grew from having a heart of hatred for evil done to his family to having a heart of love for all people. The story is a quick read, very engaging, and inspiring.

    I enjoyed the simple language it was written in and his reflections on the events he had been through. His message is beautiful and powerful; that Jesus is the answer to non-violence. I enjoy books like these because they open your eyes to another reality. Brother Nathans story invites us into his reality. This is a wonderful book with a powerful story and message.     Brother Nathan has such a wonderful way with words. I have been very blessed by his story of how wanted revenge for his father's killers to faith in Jesus to following the Lord's call for his family in Egypt. He talks about some of the discrimination he has seen and has had happen to him at the hands of Muslim "Love Casts Out Fear" by Brother Nathan is a memoir about growing up as a Christian in Egypt and forgiving the men who murdered his father and then bringing the gospel to his homeland.

    I was really impressed on how he followed the Lord's leading even when others were telling not to and how God used him when he obeyed the Lord. It was a very interesting memoir and I was really impressed and encouraged by this book and I plan on keeping to read again to remind myself of forgiveness when I need the reminder. A very powerful book and I highly recommend it. I was given this book from BakerBooks a division of Baker Publishing Group for my honest review and was not required to give a positive review.
