John and Jim are back with an episode that they are once again decided on. They both agree the episode has merit, but one of them is overly enthused by the premise. Episode "How Many Herring in a Wheelbarrow? First, the Joker is committing a series of petty thefts from technology firms. It seems like a joke, but Batman suspects there's more to it than meets the eye. How does he do it? The music was as important to the show as the bright colors, campy dialogue and tongue-in-cheek performances.

Yet, strangely, the story of how it came to be has never been told John is joined by director Pat Evans to discuss the importance of the project.

The Green Hornet Fighting Crime

Episode "The Cool, Cruel Mr. First, we look at the premiere of Mr. Freeze on the cartoon as he plans to bring Gotham City to its knees with a frosty gamble that not only threatens the city, but the Wayne fortune as well. Next, Robin is thinking he's losing his touch but we quickly learn, "The Joke's on Robin" thanks to the Joker. There's an arsonist on the loose in the city and the Hornet takes the case. But Mike Axford has a former police investigator with a specialty in arson that he'd like to bring in. He quickly learns that the man has more to prove than just the case.

John and Jim are at odds over the merits of this episode. In the first episode of the series, we discuss "My Crime is Your Crime" in which the Joker and Penguin team up to confound Batman by switching their M. This time though, Dozier went all out with a full length half-hour episode featuring Victor Buono as the villain, Mr.

Memory - which starts the batter of questions about where this show was going.

Which begs the question, why wasn't a full pilot produced? District Attorney Scanlon is running for re-election and it looks like it's going to be a rough one as his life is threatened. The Hornet has to step in to investigate, but how does he do it without connecting himself to the DA? This is an interesting episode of the series as it addresses a number of questions, the least of which is why should one elect someone who has failed time and again to catch public enemy number one, The Green Hornet?

The Hornet and Mike Axford teaming up? How is this possible? When Britt orders Mike to work with the Hornet in order to bring down a construction racket, Mike has his own ideas that could threaten his life. John and Jim are in agreement that this is a "Must Watch" episode, but they're not entirely sure why. Is it the appearance of Jeffrey Hunter? Is it the Black Beauty versus three bulldozers? Is it the Hornet Mortars? Is it the Hornet and Mike working together?

John and Jim are back to being at odds with this episode. Mike Axford is accused of a murder he didn't commit and the Hornet has to prove his innocence. John found that the episode was slow to start, but picked up in pace greatly as it moved along. Episode "Minerva, Mayhem and Millionaires".

It seems almost like a plausible story for the third season. Robert goes so far as to point out that the episode has the beats of a condensed two-part second season story.

John and Jim find themselves reaching for things to even talk about this episode. A group of wealthy industrialists gather to hunt the most dangerous game and they've set their sights on the Hornet and Kato. It sounds like a great plot, but the execution leaves much to be desired. It's another challenge for The Green Hornet, but for John and Jim, there's not much of a challenge in reviewing this episode. Both are excited by this story that gives Bruce Lee a chance to stretch a little as the Hornet and Kato investigate a protection racket by a tong in Chinatown.

The thing is, there's more to the tong than simply an extortion racket. There's a great deal to like about this fan favorite as the two discuss. Episode 68 - "The Entrancing Dr. It's the penultimate episode of the series and it seems to lack any spark or energy to it despite featuring Ida Lupino and Howard Duff as alchemist Dr.

Cassandra and her groovy husband Cabala. That alone should make it exciting, but then add Batgirl in the Batcave and a prison break featuring six of the villains from Batman's Rogue's Gallery and you should have a classic - and yet, nothing. John and Jim are excited to be talking about this episode as it's another high concept episode that manages to work in the Hornet's usual angle of getting inside the criminal organization for a "piece of the action".

A group of thieves have stolen a cache of artwork which they wish to ransom. They have everyone at bay though because they carry with them a powerful laser weapon. While Britt negotiates for the release, the Hornet goes inside to learn about who is holding the artwork. Episode "The Return of the Caped Crusaders". It's the movie 50 years in the making well, in the waiting. Episode "The Joker's Flying Saucer". The final Joker episode for Batman 66 is not exactly a fan favorite, but there are things of merit in the episode that are worth discussing.

There were missed opportunities in a story that went beyond even the insanity of Joker surfing by having Joker build an unidentified flying object to terrorize Gotham City. And who is Verdigris? Is being a Martian his shtick? Is he just a bomb expert? The Hornet's Sting "Beautiful Dreamer".

This story has a lot of things that make it stand out from the others in the series. First, it's the first two-part episode for the series.
