Each promise has one! Problem: This is the temptation in the wilderness. When we pray for a promise and then stumble into a problem, we think we received a problem instead of a provision.
The pitfall is: We are apt to be caught unawares when the problem arises. We seldom see the connection between it and the promise. Therefore we are likely to become discouraged and fail.
The Wilderness Experience
Expecting the problem keeps us prepared, and once we recognize the wilderness situation, we can usually go through it with less pain and in a shorter period of time. God gave the promise inheritance , then the principle ten commandments , then the problem wilderness , then the provision Canaan land. But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he swore unto thy fathers, as it is this day.
It was necessary in order for them to obtain their inheritance. Temptation comes to provoke a decision. Alternatives in the problem. The circumstances are there to bring about what needs to be changed! God is not so much interested in your actions as He is in your reactions.
