The stainless finish is smooth and highly polished; the steel feels heavy in the hand, but my girl says it's light and comfortable on her neck. Publicly it passes for jewelry; it's plausibly deniable. My girl's comments on this collar: It's pretty and simple, which are important qualities to me.

It's also solid and unyielding, two things I really like about it. If anything ever happened to this one, I'd ask for another one just like it. The hinge joint has a small but unobtrusive gap; it could have been radiused to avoid that, but it's minor. Also, it's possible to overtwist the Allen screw that secures it; there's only a threaded hole and no stop - it simply screws right through and projects from the other surface. Having noted that, the screw shows no sign of moving on its own in over a month.
A bit of Loctite on the threads could make it semi-permanent. One person found this helpful. I found it to be too heavy for daily wear, It sits weird on the neck and puts pressure on your neck. I would have returned it had my husband not thrown everything out. I can only wear it for about an hour before getting a massive headache. Feels, nice quite heavy in the hand but light on the neck. The included wrench is super tiny and easy to loose which is either a plus or a minus depending on how you look at it.
The joint is not offensively large, but neither is it super small and hidden. No hair has yet been caught in it. I would definitely recommend this piece to anyone whose sub isn't tiny. I would recommend these have some contour to Feels heavy when you hold it, but once on is very comfortable.

I would recommend these have some contour to them. This is the first one I've ever worn. Amazing quality and wonderful weight. Not so heavy as to be cumbersome just enough to remind you it's there.
