The season of Advent is upon us, time to reflect on the powerful way that the Lord has touched our lives. It is a time of waiting for the rebirth of Jesus in our lives. While I have been dealing with pancreatic cancer for five years, my discomfort has increased quite a bit over the last few months. I have experienced more issues and suspect that there will be more to come. How do I face the issues ahead? It is a matter of holding on to faith. I am not alone in my fight with cancer. I know that other people have had to find faith to weather the storms of life. They believed in the unbelievable and their faith saw them to Christmas morning and their child Jesus.

So as I ponder the season of Advent, I hope that my faith will lead me to a stronger point in my life. I pray that whatever God has in store for me will help me to see beyond just this moment into a glorious journey of faith.

Here was a woman who supposedly "had it all" and was a prominent figure in the entertainment world.

She could influence people and society because of her wealth and fame, yet for all that she "had," there is one thing that she did not show that she had. That is faith.

She completely wanted control of the outcome of her life. She did not want cancer but so much so that she could mutilate her own body before she was even ill. She did not want to trust in God. The media called her courageous. I wanted to call her a coward. She did not face her future, like the rest of us do, with the knowledge that we do not know what lies ahead. We do not know if we will die of cancer, live to be or die in a car accident.

That is all in the Hands of God.
