Murky and obscure. I was quite excited to see this art installation. I am fond of this category of statuary which incorporates unusual settings and forced perspective. I made the journey out to this site at beautifil Hojbro twice specifically to see this artwork in the daylight and in the ….

Look into the water. The whole idea of the statue is beautifully ridiculous. Let's build the statue and throw into the water so that only the people who know about it might have the chance to spot it. At time of our visit the statue was covered by thick layer of seaweed resembling family of swamp ….

This definitely piqued my interest, but disappointed as there was not much to see and no nearby reference of what the sculpture actually looked like before it was fully submerged. One pic is what I captured one of the days, and the others is what it looked like the other times.

We had stopped on the bridge for a quick rest after marching round the city seeing the sights when I noticed a sign on the canal wall warning of an underwater structure. We could only just see it as it was completely submerged but a quick Google told me about the structure and ….

But her brother had not forgotten her. One day he sat by the sea's edge, and thought of his sister. There were so many lovely fish swimming out in the water. He fetched a fishing line and cast it out to catch some of them. It took a long time before they would bite, but finally a lovely fish also came to him and bit on the line. Its scales looked like the purest gold and silver.

But when it was on the hook, he couldn't pull it up. He walked along the sea's edge, and pulled and pulled, but he still couldn't get it out of the water. Then suddenly the fish gave a leap out toward the depths, and the lad lost his balance and fell out into the waves. He slowly sank deeper and deeper, until after a while he didn't know where he was.

When he came to himself again, he lay on a lovely plain. There he saw a path, and he followed it until he came to a magnificent castle. He went in, and found his sister. She was so glad to have her brother near, and had so much to tell him, that the time went by before they knew it.

Then they heard a terrible roar, as if the sea were overflowing its banks, and rushing with heavy breakers up onto the beach. He went over, laid his head in her lap, and let her comb the kelp and the seaweed from his green hair.

But then he quickly rose, and said in a terrible voice: "I smell Christian blood. Then the brother crept out, and he and his sister plotted together about how they might escape. The next day, the merman came at the same time as he had before. Again the brother was hidden. The merman laid his head in the girl's lap, and let her pick the kelp out of his hair, but again he stood up quickly and said angrily: "I smell Christian blood.

The brother and sister grew even more upset, sighed and wept, and had no idea where they might flee. Now it was the third day. The sister said that she couldn't hide her brother any more, but that when the merman came, she would say that he was a poor man whom the sea had thrown down there, so that the merman would surely pity him, and grant him his life. When the merman came, she went straight to him, and told him this. It was the merman's opinion that it would be best to kill him, but she begged and begged, until he granted the lad his life, and allowed him to stay there.

Now they could converse each day, and not fear the cruel merman's arrival.
