I enjoyed the discussions on group behaviour and dynamics which are also useful for software engineering in general. Chapter 7 goes through the economic cost-benefit of using open source software and presents analysis that is both highly relevant and accessible. The third section is a commentary on the beneficial applications of open source in security, public and educational sectors. The final chapter attempts to foresee the next few decades for this movement.
This chapter left me rather disappointed on what is otherwise a good read. I found the language used in the book accessible and inviting to readers from a range of backgrounds, both technical and non-technical. It also provides academic value with an extensive list of references at the end of almost every chapter, and a useful glossary at the end.
