She runs into Laird McTiernay and his men. They take her with them ,they feed, and get her a horse until they get to his castle. Conor has started falling in love with her but keeps swearing he will never marry, he does not trust women. They are conniving, liars and will use a man, he wants no part of it The author has done a wonderful job with this story.

Laurel is feisty and stubborn but she is Scottish. She and Conor have lots of fights because he has the same problems. Me man, I rule, me woman and I rule. She cares for the clan and does all she can to help. The characters are wonderful and warm. The descriptions sound gorgeous. The plot is complicated but the author has managed to keep it interesting and sometimes funny. I already have her next book and I am going to read it right away.

See a Problem?

I received this ARC from the author and voluntarily reviewed it. I read this book years ago and fell in love with the McTiernays. Ms Sinclair made us wait a long time until she wrote another instalment in the saga recently and that book prompted me to reread the series. In this the first book, the H is the laird of the McTiernay clan and he's sworn off marriage because he doesn't believe he needs to. He's been subject to women trying to manipulate him in order to marry and he wants none of it.

He and a few of his clan are returning to the highlands after a raid when they come across the h, who is in a dreadful condition. She had fought off some villains on her way to her grandfather.

There is an instant attraction between the two main characters but they are both fiery characters so we had a bumpy ride to our hea. I loved re-reading the book and look forward to the others again. One person found this helpful. Conor is the gruff handsome Laird McTiernay who while returning home from his brothers wedding meets up with Laurel, when Laurel stumbles into their camp. Laurel has been beaten very badly and has escaped her capture. She ask Conor for his help and he and his brothers an warriors instantly pledges to protect Laurel and take her back to his castle.

Hear in lies the problem with the story or lack of back story and character development. Conor and Laurel meet fall in love and mildly deny their attraction to each other. She takes over his Castle and clean an organizes it. Every man women and child at the Castle McTiernay thinks Laurel is the most beautiful women they have ever seen.

They are immediately enthralled by her. Just becasue she is pretty.

  • Death on Beacon Hill (Nell Sweeney Mystery Series Book 3).
  • Highland Games (Rachel Myers Murder Mysteries Book 10)?
  • Protect Your Rights: The Injured Worker’s Guide to D.C. Workers’ Compensation.

The story is under developed. The characters are under developed. However, it is not a bad story and it keep me entertained. I think maybe Michele Sinclair is a new author or just an immature author, but I believe she has the potential to get better at developing a more detailed storyline line with characters of depth.

I will read the next book in the series and hopefully it will be written better. Mass Market Paperback Verified Purchase.

The Highlander’s Bride -The McTiernays #1 – Michele Sinclair | Everything Paranormal Romance

The Highlander's Bride entered his life when he least expected or wanted a wife, but he could not resist the feisty, stubborn and compassionate beauty Laurel Cordell when she came to his camp asking for help. Lady Laurel quickly won Laird Conor McTiernay's clans love and devotion to with her skills, honor, bravery and flattery.

All Conor had wanted in a wife and had always dreamed of was an enduring love like his parents had shared. The Highlander's Bride is full of hot Scottish temper, clan devotion, romance, treats from the evil clan that had captured Laurel and killed her guards and a happy ending. Conor is so "Laird-ish" -- stoic, reserved, unemotional; everything he knows a Laird should be in order to lead his people well.

The Highlander's Bride

Both heroines impress the clan with their hunting skills. Both heroines have keeps to improve but so do most medieval heroines so I am not sure if this one counts. Both heroines have a secret that they are keeping from the hero. Both heroes have figured out the secret. Both heroines face villains from their past. Both heroines spend time locked in a tower. That said, the similarities cannot be dismissed, if only for comparing the quality of these two books. Are there dozens of Medievals which share most or all of these similarities?

Perhaps, but in this instance, Garwood clearly did it better. Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment. Carolyn Esau Review Date:
