Can one be "a fan-boy" without ever owning a product from a given brand? Haha, funny thought. The bodies are cute but the lenses are where it's at with Fuji, especially their primes. Also will it equal or better my a using the 20mm pancake which is not a great lens soft in corners. I want the best small set up and since Sony failed with the a and is still using a 6 year old sensor and does not have a high quality small wide lens I am going to try both of these but interested in opinions from someone who knows more about the Canon and Fuji I know nothing I am a Sony FF shooter.

Unfortunately the Fujinon 18mm f2 is soft in the corners as well. The 27mm F2.

Do you really want to put the camera in your pocket? If not then any of the Fuji F2 lenses are perfect for travel and street. If you want small then go for the Fuji X-E3 with the F2 lenses. The X-E3 is only a smidge bigger but you get an EV and a joystick. Both have touchscreen. Lol at all the armchair photographers wanting a viewfinder. Not having a viewfinder is probably the best thing for you armchair photographers to explore different angles other than eye level so you might want to actually try it.

Lots of us use a tripod and a viewfinder. Although the viewfinder is only a necessity when the ambient light renders the rear screen useless. Then what do you do with the camera? Dig out a big loupe? Personally I need a viewfinder for manual focus, very bright light situations and detailed composition. If you don't need either of those things then no viewfinder generally works fine.

What a silly thing to do, defend a low price product for obvious let-downs in interface options. If you want to continue shooting without an EVF, fine. Sooner or later you'll become one of the growing number of armchair photographers when you find that you can no longer see the rear screen clearly either because you're looking at it too closely or too distantly.

Time will tell. But I love the fact that it has a view finder that I can use outside in the sun. And when I went to shoot from eye level rather than waist level. Um, why do you have problems with using a VF with a tripod? All those professional photographers of the past, how did they ever take pictures without an LCD screen? Oh yeah, using the VF. Talk about an armchair photographer. For everyone lamenting the lack of a viewfinder, you do realize that the X series has 4 generations now and it was introduced in My X-E3 has better af than my XF.

Huge rear screen?

My phone have a compact 5" full hd screen with very small border. And why black bar in photo mode? I love the color I just preordered mine no problem without a view finder here in the bright Arizona sun in fact I just used a camera this morning with a view finder and had a hard time with it in sunny conditions so I used the LCD. I will pair this body with my F2. Perfect travel combo. I can finally shoot one handed, run and gun style on my hover board. People will form tribes on tilty vs swively and will fight until the universe dies from proton decay.

No Viewfinder: Canon recently came out with a camera with an add on viewfinder, so yes, Canon and Fuji think there is a market for a camera with no viewfinder: probably not to all the enthusiasts on here, who have no intention of buying it anyway, but then it isn't marketed at them. I've never liked the Fuji budget cameras, far too crippled but this one looks like it may be ok.

I have a feeling that most people under 25 have no problem taking photos without a viewfinder. At this point, I'll just stay on m I'm going to ride it out while phone cameras get better and better. I think the days of switching entire kit are pretty much over. I have p30 pro and a phone still can't touch real camera in my eye image just look fake. Very useful but didn't feel cheap or like i was going to break.

Then again, I haven't handled this X-A7 so it might be a strong swiveling screen but I have seen some poorly implemented and cheaply made articulated screens like this. Wonder if their trying to appeal to the hippie crowd who drove the old 's era VW busses, with that blue color scheme. I wonder how the digital stabilization is. Fuji's lack of fast lenses with IS was the biggest thing holding me back.

Digital IS for videos will be a welcomed addition if it actually works well. For what it is the isn't a bad lens. But so far, I'm liking the results for what I'm shooting which is general stuff--not landscapes or portraits. But as of lately, I've just gone with whatever looks best, whatever the FL is. You have options. A simple search here and on Google would have revealed that pretty quickly.

No viewfinder? This is a great camera now being scratched off a lot of lists. Too bad. It's a loser. I suspect an XT will be more like the existing XT but with a slightly higher resolution sensor maybe 26MP since they are putting that on their cameras now. I don't think the XT will be a major update though to the XT Except the weight of this camera is not significantly less, so you got nothing beyond a camera with no EVF.

Cute toy, but they can keep it. They just slightly increase the price of the newest body and then over time put the older bodies on sale after say years of shelf life. I completely agree this could be an exceptional street camera. I agree. It should've had at least an optional viewfinder. But it could be a nice camera for casual video and landscape shooters.

Rob You're joking right? I'm at a loss to understand why anyone would choose a smartphone over this camera, if photography is important to them at all. Like many people my age, I wear 'cheaters' ie reading glasses. Viewfinders work great but tiny camera-back LCDs are useless.

The Best Camera for Travel in 2020 (For Every Budget)

I don't guess they'll ever add a dioptic adjustment knob to an LCDs No to say that, when using heavy lenses, holding the camera against one's face reduces shakes and it is less tiring Who would buy this camera Moreover, the X-A7 looks cool, a iPhone looks pretty dumb imo. One offers an all in one tool for everything Internet, phone calls, and pictures whereas the other offers one specific function, but has more features and control for those who want the most control for their photos.

The plus side to a phone is you will most likely always have it with you, but the camera has more manual controls and the option to use far more lenses or more creative compositions. It's all a trade off, the potential buyers just need to consider these and go with what's best for their needs. I wouldn't necessarily say that he is trolling.

I mean it's his opinion. I'm not terribly fond of the blue color myself, but the silver looks good. It's just his opinion. I would think if a bunch of false claims where made, then we would consider it more trolling. Due to the faster innovations being made with cellphones, especially regarding their picture taking, I feel cameras like these are a hard sell nowadays and for what they offer, just isn't enough to justify the cost you're paying or going to pay for whilst your smartphone has just about the same, if not more for what for many could possibly need, especially for the casual photo interest.

These's smartphones are just about to completely dominate if it hasn't already the casual photo market, and soon will be creeping into enthusiast.

But its not all doom and gloom, its not the end of photography, if anything, this has brought a lot more people to the art, regarding the business side is a whole other discussion. But there is still a market for your FF and pro bodies, and there always will be. I'm sure there will also always be entry-level bodies but there will be fewer of them--maybe one or two from each of the main 3 big mfrs. I mean, they have to get people into their system somehow and starting them out cheap is usually the way its done.

Not to mention going back to Rob's original comment some people just want more control, and want the actual optical qualities such as bokeh , not something that's being done in software. Hi DPReview! Does it have a 30min 4k recording limit?

Can it be powered not only charged over USB? Otto is right, 15 minute limit in 4K - I'll check on whether it can be powered over USB when I get into the office in a bit. Good to see the autofocus is now more responsive than previous entry levels. This is the one thing I did not like about the Fuji model I bought of an earlier version in this entry level line.
