Nothing was too much trouble. Food was superb Rooms and sitting rooms comfy and cosy with open fires. Dining room excellent for conversations because of lack of excessive noise due to carpets!! Modern wooden floors so noisy!! Pros : A warm welcome from Andrea on arrival who was very attentive on the afternoon of our arrival bringing us drinks from the bar as we relaxed in the cosy lounge in front of a beautiful fire. This was followed by an excellent dinner where Chris then took over the hosting duties along with his excellent waitresses.

Lovely rooms and a comfortable nights sleep followed by a wonderful breakfast. The whole ambience of this hotel is brilliant. The owners and staff are attentive but not obtrusive and the attention to detail throughout is top notch. Very relaxed atmosphere and great rooms and food. What more can you ask for! All in all an exceptional stay and we will most definitely be returning very soon. Pros : The bed was very comfy, an the service was outstanding as was our evening meal and breakfast. Pros : It was a comfortable and warm hotel.

The food in the restaurant was excellent - it was just a shame the staff rushed us through the meal with no breaks between courses! Cons : The shower was very poor - lacked sufficient water and power. Pros : This historic property is a treat in itself , and the service fulfills the expectation you have , when first you see it. The size exudes a homely welcome , especially the log fire in the sitting room.

Finally the food is top drawer served in a fascinating dining room , by exceptional staff. Cons : As a person with mobility difficulties , I should have checked , stipulated a room with less stairs to climb however the rather rare cantilever original stairs fortunately were shallow , and so I managed. They had prepared vegan sausages for me which the bought only for me. At Dinner the gave me a vegan menu without asking for it. Amazing professional Staff. Pros : A lovely hotel set on lovely grounds.

Quality very good of breakfast but could only choose 1 starter and this included an orange juice option and I feel you should get this as part of a breakfast Pros : Upon arrival I was upgraded to a room with a wonderful view over the Morecambe Bay. Breakfast of a similar standard is served in the dining room. Pros : The evening meal was so good and so well cooked and an excellent selection on the menu. I called in as I needed the bathroom before we started our walk. Pros : The hostess was superb, very friendly and helpful and catered too our every need.. Cons : A bit outdated. Room was small but clean. Continental breakfast was extremely basic with food wrapped in cling film. Amateurish booking in process, breakfast ordering very confusing and unusual. Parking limited to one hour outside the premises until 6pm, very inconvenient.

Central location was good although there was no parking at the property. We liked the option of having breakfast delivered to our room. Cons : We found the twin beds very uncomfortable. We would have preferred a greater selection of hot drinks in the room-particularly decaffeinated drinks. Grange Hotel. Featured amenities include a business center, a hour front desk, and luggage storage.

Pros : Spectacular view. The bed was large and comfortable. On site parking was generally good. The breakfast was excellent although the cereal choice was limited and there were no bread rolls. Great location for touring and walking in the Lakes. Cons : No WiFi reception in the allocated room but the hotel switched rooms for us to resolve this.

Cottages - Grange-over-Sands, England

The sauna was out of service for the duration of our stay. The tea and coffee was very slow coming to the table at breakfast. Pros : The hotel was a minute walk from the train station and had everything you needed. The pool facilities where easily accessible, very clean and would highly recommend! Pros : The rest of the staff were friendly and welcoming. The hotel was beauitful and the rooms were immaculate.

Cons : The sauna was broken and one member of staff was slightly rude but overall that didn't matter. Pros : Beautiful setting but bit tatty - eiderdown needed cleaning long ago.

From the streets

Hampsfell House Hotel. Fully recommended. Featured amenities include express check-in, express check-out, and luggage storage. Pros : The hotel is a short walk from Grange station and not far from the town centre. It is a historic house, to which additional hotel accommodation has been added. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom well appointed. The breakfast was freshly cooked and was most delightful; the best I've had for some time on my travels.

The restaurant staff was very attentive and welcoming, and quite an ambassador for the hotel. Cons : The room never got really warm, and the bathroom was quite chilly; fortunately I coped okay, but would not have suited my wife! The walk from the station and up the drive to the hotel in the dark is not the most appealing way to arrive; as lighting up the drive is rather minimal.
