Anne snapped her lips shut because her temper was rising. However, she could at least take solace in the fact that insulting him was definitely something Mary would have done. His lips pressed tightly together as she failed to answer. I thought it was against the law to be a nun in England. Anne raised her chin to find the earl frowning at her again. His eyes were a darker blue than his brothers. She shivered, a chill shooting down her spine. His eyes narrowed as the hand pressing across her back felt the ripple of reaction.

Heat bled across her cheeks once again as she inhaled the scent of his skin. Her belly suddenly tightened with the oddest sensation.

With a hard shove she tried to escape from his hold. He scoffed at her. A soft sound of male disgruntlement. Her eyes widened as he retained his hold. His arm was like steel, binding her to his body. His gaze narrowed once more. A moment later her French hood was tugged off her head, pulling her hair as he plucked it free.

He studied her face for a long moment before releasing her. One foot plunged into the mud as she placed distance between them. A flicker of amusement entered his eyes as he stood blocking her path, using the river and his larger size to keep her at his mercy. She pushed past him, uncaring of how close she was to his body anymore. He followed her up the bank. All covered in paint. She shivered again, this time in some odd response to the way his tone had softened.

He was no longer angry with her. This is a really rambling review, and you have my apologies for it. These books just reminded me why I gave up reading category romances there's no plot, really, beyond the romance and why I once found them so addictive it's ALL about the romance! The hero Kit returns home after active military duty full of pain and guilt after an incident that left a fellow soldier injured.

It has also left Kit doubting himself. However he doesn't doubt his love for Sophie, the heroine, and when they reunite it's full of passion. It hurts Sophie that Kit won't talk to her, she has also got a lot to tell him about events in her life while he was away on duty. The more time that passes they get more and more distant with each other, the only time they truly connect is their very explosive and passionate moments, but Sophie soon realises that it is not enough. Kit's foundation is rocked even more when he fears that he may have a genetic disease and begins to think that he has nothing to offer Sophie. Another fantastic book, and a great second part to Kit and Sophie's journey.

This book is jam packed with tension, with a capital T! And, it is enthralling all the way through. The fact that the hero and heroine are already in a relationship and this continues through the entire book is fabulous. It's original and very well executed. Romance novels are so often about the two characters meeting or re-meeting so having a couple already in a relatively secure relationship and actually getting to see what happens after they have their HEA is brilliant.

I think India Grey has done a fantastic job. This is very much a book about the hero, but it still has lots of input from a fantastic heroine. The issues raised over PTSD are handled well also. This is a beautiful romance; I really felt invested in these two characters lives and couldn't wait to find out how they would find their happiness. It is definitely worth it. At the end of the first book where they finally discover their love for each other was really fabulous and this story continues from where they now are living in London together and Kit is on a secret mission for the army. Lots of heartache here for both.

He is worried about one of his men who was seriously injured during the mission he was in charge of. Adding to his mental anguish is the fact that he thinks he may have inherited a degenerate disease from his dead father. And then he hears from his mother who had abandoned him when he was a little boy, wanting to meet him again. Sophie persuades him to go to Morocco to finally have all the answers about his mother and real father. More secrets are revealed.

Loved the scenes in Morocco….. And the scene in the souk……. Mar 19, Julie Cohen added it. I sometimes get frustrated when I read a series romance, when I fall in love with the characters but the book is so short that I don't get to know them well enough. Both books are about the same couple, and they deal with two parts of their relationship The author threw a lot of problems at this couple but I loved seeing them win through.

I particularly liked how the longer length of two books combined meant that there could be some secondary character development and real scene-setting, as well. A nice twist on the Harlequin Presents format. It's so amazing to read a book about one's hometown, my sweet Marrakech with everything magical it has and Imlil the most fascinating place I have ever been to.. This is my third book in my Linda Grey's list of books and as much as I read I feel like I want to read more. Apr 24, Tawnya rated it really liked it. We got to know Kit and Sophie a lot better and see the mysteries in their lives start to become clearer.

In bed with a Stranger caught my attention from the very first moment I saw it in the shop which I bought it. With it's intriguing blurb I couldn't possibly put it back down on the shelf.

Read in just under 6 hours which I think that means I liked it! I started it just after midnight and finished it just before 5 in the morning. In bed with a Stranger was without a doubt worthwhile staying up half the night for. Something which I haven't done in years!

India Grey h In bed with a Stranger caught my attention from the very first moment I saw it in the shop which I bought it. India Grey has wrote Sophie and Kit so compelling and honest you simply have to turn the next page. This novel not only shows you how war can really affect a man doing his work but how it can a affect those around him. The most compelling and mind gripping thing that kept pulling me into the book was the event and feelings in this novel can happen to anyone.

The author doesn't male the story predictable which I enjoyed so much! I wanted to keep reading to see what would happen as I had no idea. For some reason this author works for me. It is only my second novel I've read by her but I enjoy the development and chemistry of the characters plus the interesting plot and the fast pace it was set at. The love scenes were a little more spicy and graphic than a typical mainstream novel but not too much. Apr 02, Sarah rated it liked it Shelves: This is a story in which an English bastard born female is forced to pretend to be her half sister, Mary, whom is proxy married to a Scot, Broderick.

The hero is strong, confident and not a thinggg is wrong with him. The heroine, is a little meek, but still has some strong female qualities. She also gets to know herself, more so through her "husband. By extreme I mean they happen frequent with pretty much no detail missing Hmmm By extreme I mean they happen frequent with pretty much no detail missing. I admit I skipped a couple of them, as it was just TOO much. Unfortunately for me, it was missing some key points, where I actually thought I had missed a chapter.

Below you will find my bad spots. Warning these might be considered spoilers. So you all knew. And you felt it was cool just to let me get knocked up. You think Broderick won't come back for his kid? How logical is it, that you think you'll just prance off to court with his son? I'm sorry, I've read several reviews on this as well. There was no challenge to overcome at all, you couldn't have given us an anthill at least?? We're a fickle lot, we want a HEA but we want our characters to work for it my friend. Jan 20, Diana's rated it it was amazing. Have to get my fix.. Galma intrigas un centieni izmantot Jan 07, Renaissancecat22 rated it it was ok.

I was thinking of rating this book three stars because two stars seemed too harsh, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that two stars was fair. I guess it all depends on what you want from a story. If you're just looking for sex scenes loosely strung together with recycled plots, this should suffice. On most other levels, it fails. The sex dominates the story which is a problem when it's so anachronistic. The language is too modern and I got a strong feeling, especially as the s I was thinking of rating this book three stars because two stars seemed too harsh, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that two stars was fair.

The hero doesn't just display typical romance novel alpha male behavior. I didn't really have strong feelings about the hero and heroine. Aside from their sexual antics, they fell into pretty standard historical fiction types. Neither of them were "enough" of anything to really make an impression. You've more than likely read a book with a version of these characters written with more depth or in a more compelling way.

Most of their interactions were pretty repetitive. She was either keeping her secret or doing things that hinted at her status and her familiarity with performing household chores. He exhibited generic alpha arrogance before quickly melting into a pile of mush. There's no real tension in their relationship. You're just waiting for her secret to come out. While this certainly isn't a Courtney Milan book importing more modern feminist ideas, I didn't find it hatefully misogynistic in the way that some historical fiction can be. Though as vile as the villains were, it was difficult to completely despise Philipa.

Not a spoiler because it's all in the first few pages She has to endure her husband's faithlessness and preference for another woman and he isn't very sympathetic about her fear of childbirth. In another story, I could see her as a sympathetic character. The ending is wrapped up quickly and easily as it sadly the case with many romances but with this one there seemed to be more than a few loose ends.

May 27, Bookaholics rated it really liked it. Set in the s, this historical romance is a good read that moves along briskly until the end. I really liked the historical details that peppered this novel. The author really did her homework and I learned a lot of new facts and interesting trivia. The background settings were excellent.

The main character Anna is relatable and you do admire her courage, but I found the hero Brodick not as complex as I would like him to be. Brodick feels that he is unworthy of his earldom a very nice glimpse into his character and is definitely a noble person; however, most of the time, I feel like his character was rather flat. All in all, it feels like the women in this book are far more interesting than the men. Mary Wine has a definite knack for pacing and the story never lets up. Towards the end, it gets a bit slow just because we know that the hero is going to come and save the day and like most romance novels, the author must find a way to give readers a satisfactory happily-ever-after.

This is one of the best I've read in a long time!!! Such a great story and hot hot bedroom scenes!! Sep 23, Clarice rated it really liked it.

Brodick McJames has need for an English wife, however, the wife of Earl of Warwickshire would never send her daughter to the wilds of Scotland. She would send her illegitimate sister i her place. Still meeting the terms of the agreement. Anna was not what Brodick. The fates gives them both something that neither of them expected. I really enjoyed re reading this erotic and sensual love story. Great characters and a very mean evil villain who meant harm to our lead female character Anne but it turned to her good. Mary doesn't want to marry she is a spoiled old spinster who just want to stay at the court of Queen Elizabeth Tudor.

Philipa has refused her husbands bed after she gave birth to Mary 2 I really enjoyed re reading this erotic and sensual love story. Philipa has refused her husbands bed after she gave birth to Mary 26 years ago She does not want to have anymore children and she doesn't care for the marriage bed.

Henry the Earl won't rape or force her to his bed. So the Earl takes a mistress name Ivy and they have many children over the years. Anne our heroine is the eldest daughter. The only problem I had with the story was the Earl leaving his wife in control of the household and his mistress Ivy and her children left subject to her whims.

This didn't make sense. Henry the Earl is in love with his mistress and loves all his sons and daughter by her but he sits back an let them be ill treated. This part of the story didn't work for me although Philipa gets her just deserts in the end. Philipa makes Anne take her daughter place as Brodicks wife. The marriage was done by proxy. Brodick has never seen Mary. Anne must return home to Philipa once she had conceived and have the baby there and give it to Mary. Now this didn't make sense either becasue wouldn't Brodrick know is own wife?

Brodick and Anne fall in love and his no the wiser that she isn't his legal wife. They have some very erotic sex Hot!! They do get there HEA this was an excellent ending to the story. I really enjoyed it. This could have easily been a 5 star review but the foolishness of the Earl of Warwick, Anne's father all those years.

Just didn't sit right with me. Why leave the family you love under the thumb of his evil wife. Dec 16, Kazen rated it it was ok. This book is so wrong for me. First - you can't tell from the description but it takes place during medieval times. Second - it's basically a Cinderella retelling complete with evil stepmom, evil stepsister, and a prince er, Earl that whisks her away. While of noble blood she keeps doing servant-level stuff. She even has to leave the castle before a certain time comes because Several times the heroine decides to say or do something next time she sees the Earl, but as soon as he walks in the room her mouth goes dry and hubba hubba music starts playing.

I think so anyway.

In Bed with a Stranger

They had porntastic back then, right? Third and a half - there were several scenes that went like this: Bet you're looking forward to tonight.

I mean, they didn't give Socrates his tea, have dinner, sleep a bit, and then watch him die, you know? Even if the poison was weak it would have gone into effect fairly quickly. Fifth - romances where the girl has zero agency are not my thing.

See a Problem?

She goes to the Earl in a proxy marriage, she's pulled this way and that by others, but the only thing she gets to decide for herself is whether she'll treat the blind girl nicely. While completely not a "me" book it somehow managed not to make me mad, so there you are. Apr 21, Nina rated it it was ok Shelves: I hardly ever give a book 2 stars if I've finished reading it for the simple reason that if a book annoyed me that much, I would've dnf-ed it long before the end.

This is the exception and my only excuse for forcing myself right to the bitter end was that I wanted to see how the author would resolve the ridiculous scheme concocted by the heroine's godmother and her insufferable daughter. Seriously, how on earth could anyone think that you could just switch brides?
