I'm generally NOT a book reader because I spend alot of time in technical manuals and other research material. I must say Sacrifice of the Season" has opened my eyes and made me aware of why people read fiction. Daryl Parker has a great gift of capturing the reader in a story.

Parker in the Houston airport and was I was lucky enough to meet the wonderful Mr. Parker in the Houston airport and was given a copy of this book. I can't say enough good things about this book.

A great, fast-paced and exciting story with characters you can't help but root for, it only took me about four hours total to finish this book as I didn't want to stop reading it! I am looking forward to the sequel! I was very surprised by Sacrifice of the Season. I'm not usually a fan of the paranormal genre, but this book grabbed me right from the beginning. I wanted to keep reading to see what would happen. This was an absolutely amazing book! Daryl Parker was one of our favorite contestants on Top Shot and I bought this in support of him.

Messages for an Entangled Universe

This is not the type of book that I normally read and my ignorance of all things hobbit may have been a disadvantage to me because some stuff I just plain didn't get. But I liked it overall and think if the more sci-fi goblin scene was the one I was in to, it would have been a great read. Jul 03, Terri rated it really liked it Shelves: This was a compelling entry book for Daryl Parker. Although a sequel was promised, I'm sorry one hasn't shown up yet.

This has none of the charm or cleverness of her other work. I gave up on it at chapter 4 - the writing was stilted, the characters annoying, and there was soooo much exposition - all telling instead of showing. The world building was pretty good, and I could see a story set in that culture I've liked other books by this author, so I was excited to see this on sale at Friends of the library for a dollar. The world building was pretty good, and I could see a story set in that culture being interesting, but sadly this plot, and these characters, did not bring this book to life at all.

I'd give Klasky another try, on the basis of some her other novels, but I'd steer people away from this one. Mar 14, Ahw rated it it was ok. It wasn't a horrible story I kept reading it and I looked forward to reading it. While there was a lot of predictability in a fantasy novel about the female shaman connecting with the "Great Mother" through the "mystical tree".

There was also some unpredictability and distinct characters. Some of the plot seemed to grate on me as unbelievable but if I got past those various points I found myself caring about It wasn't a horrible story Some of the plot seemed to grate on me as unbelievable but if I got past those various points I found myself caring about the events. So if you want simple fantasy novel you won't go wrong with this one.

Dec 26, Corinne rated it did not like it Shelves: A classical example of archetypical fantasy! At least the original fantasy novel f. Mar 27, Jami Leigh rated it liked it Shelves: It did help pass a very slow work day, after all. But I found it predictable and sometimes silly. The enemies were all very flat, with no more motive than "power". The kids were handled well though, which is hard to do, and I liked parts of the worldbuilding. Apr 30, Terry rated it liked it Shelves: The characters were mostly stereotypes and the plot was predictable but it was a good story with some innovative twists.
