Now that Logan is back in town, he turns on the charm and seeks to mend his and Kate's painful past. Logan keeps showing up at Kate's family bakery seeking Kate's kisses, and to rebuild their relationship. Will they discover a potential future together? I look forward to reading more of Mary Manners' book in the future!

One person found this helpful. I can see this is going to be a great start to a series a real sweet one. Kate's Kisses is book one in the Sweet Treats Bakery series. I know I started eating chocolate kisses when I was reading this one. Such a sweet novella well written by Mary. Kate Spencer seems to of lost everything, her parents to a accident and then her fiancee Logan Daniels left town to pursue his career. She felt since her parents have died it left younger sisters she needed to stay home and care for and not leave to go with Logan to pursue what they had planned on doing before the accident.

So with the insurance money she bought a bakery. All the sisters helped run it. After 4 years Logan returns and he is not going to stop till he gets what he came back for When Katie breaks their engagement. Both of her parents were killed in a tragic accident and she decides she needs to stay behind in the small town and help her older sister Mattie raise their two younger sisters.

While Logan felt he needed to grow and get away from the small town. So he left and never looked back, until four years later when he comes to town to oversee the building of the town Library. I got the impression that his parents had a lot to do with getting them back together as they totally adored Katie. You learn a little about the other three sisters in the story. I would have rated much higher but there were unanswered questions for me. In the book it states that Logan did not want to come back and work on this project, that the company he worked for designed.

Actually he was the architect that did the work. But he tells Katie he still loves her almost as soon as he gets to town. My complaint is this was never explained are we to guess.? Did he not realize he still loved her until he saw her again? Was he afraid she would reject him? I don't think that was it. Also you come to understand he has been very busy with the bakery her and her sisters run and helping to raise Tessa. But what has he been up to for four years? It is really ashamed because I enjoyed the story otherwise.

I definitely enjoyed the story. While this is listed as an inspirational story don't worry about it coming across as preachy or over the top. In fact I wouldn't even describe it as "Christian. I admit that I was rather surprised by it because up until that point you would have no idea that this was supposed to be a Christian romance but once it moved past that Christianity wasn't really brought up again. I enjoyed the two main characters although I wish the story was longer but that just shows that the author made me like the characters enough to want to read more. I liked it enough that I went ahead and bought the other three stories in the series.

I see Kate's Kisses as a story of love, sacrifice, and being given a second chance at having an even better version of the man you have loved for all these years. Kate and Logan were engaged when her parents were tragically killed. Kate chose to stay and raise her 3 sisters. Logan had a chance to leave town to further his career in California. Kate broke off the engagement, stayed and raised her sisters while growing her own bakery business.

Then one day Logan is back in town and wants Kate back. Will Logan win Kate back? Will it be easy? I felt like it had a very "after-school-special" quality to it.

Topping the list is the fact that everyone is polite and considerate to each other and the man asks permission to kiss the leading lady for the first time which may not be all that strange except for the fact that they had been high school sweethearts and engaged to be married years before. It has been my experience that in life people don't always behave so kindly to every As far as romance books go it wasn't one of my favorites.

Kate's Kisses

It has been my experience that in life people don't always behave so kindly to everyone they come across ALL of the time. Especially given the fact that her parents had just been killed and he decides he wants to break their engagement and go to California to get out of their little town. Had that happened to me I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have given him the civil reception that she did upon his return.

It was filled with cliches- it even had the old "initals carved into the tree with a heart around it when they were young" thing going on. And the fact that she owns a bakery and he's always buying her chocolate "kisses" put me into sugar shock just reading about it. But if you're looking for a quick, chaste read very quick and very chaste then give it a try. Feb 28, Katie W rated it really liked it Shelves: I read this in one session on my treadmill--super cute and short. Kate had her heartbroken and now Logan is back in town.

Try as she might, she refuses to fall for him again, but it's proving to be harder than she thought. The book made me hungry. Kate and her sisters run a bakery and between the descriptions of all the yummy treats, especially the kisses chocolate covered cream and cherries , and the descriptions of their hair--cinnamon colored, walnut colored, etc, I was starving. I thought Logan was a real jerk at first, but when I got more into the story, I realized that they were both to blame and all that was in the past. He's a really sweet guy.

This was a very fast read, only taking me about 30 minutes to read it. I wish we had the ability to give half stars, because it's a bit better than a three star read, but not quite a four star read for me. Its set in a bakery owned by four sisters and focuses on the second sister, Kate. The plot was good, and moved along at a good pace. I was able to emotionally connect to the hero and heroine, but what I didn't like was the lack of mention of how their feelings towards each other changed or was This was a very fast read, only taking me about 30 minutes to read it.

I was able to emotionally connect to the hero and heroine, but what I didn't like was the lack of mention of how their feelings towards each other changed or was re-awoken. He's proposed and she is accepting. I doubt I'll pay for the other books in the series, but will try to borrow them to finish the series, as I think they are worth reading. Apr 28, writer The perfect length of read in a lightly handled style for this wee bit of romantic interlude.

Kate has been jilted and we're made aware of that head on. What we don't know is 'the rest of the story' Well drawn characters; realistic with unique quirks that I couldn't help liking. The handsome lead was definitely easy to picture! Mary Manners does a great job of pacing the story. Her introduction of some missing facts are perfectly timed to benefit the reader's with an ah hah understanding in this tale of love gone awry. You definitely kept my interest rolling..

Mar 06, Rhonda rated it really liked it. This was a beautiful second chance love story. Kate had to give up her dreams to help her sisters raise their youngest sister once their parents died. Once back in his small hometown, he sees the love of his life and realizes he might have made a mistake.

Even taking into consideration the cheesy romance factor this was horrible. I didn't realize it was so short and it was just So it is just hey I still love you! And she is all umm I do too but Cue convenient job offer to keep him in town, then surprise girl and say hey marry me?

And happily ever after. No real reason why she would take him back and they never really talked about what happened or any Even taking into consideration the cheesy romance factor this was horrible. No real reason why she would take him back and they never really talked about what happened or anything. So lame even for a cheesy romance novel. I bought the book because I have read quite some 'bakery' books over the last years "Bread alone" or "The Union Street Bakery" , so I thought I give this one a try..

Well, that was nearly too sweet for me.

Kindle Feature Spotlight

The story just floated along, no crisis THAT happened before the book started - the man who broke her heart just comes back and wins it again I don't think I will read the other sequels. Feb 25, Erin rated it liked it Shelves: I finished this in less than an hour! It was a cute story; probably the best comparison would be the treats that are featured in the book - a sweet treat but definitely not a real meal. Nothing to be concerned about really.

Brief description of a fairly chaste kiss and mention of provocative dress by one of the characters is mostly all there is. I enjoyed this book so much that I have read it at least twice now. Anytime I am wanting a book to make me smile I read this book and the others in the series. The characters are engaging and the story draws you in. A great book to snuggle up with a cup of tea and get lost for a few hours.

Mar 05, Jennifer rated it it was ok. Very short--I actually think this could have been a better book if it had had more detail. There were so many elements that were simply glossed over and I think there was more story to tell.

See a Problem?

I especially found the romance aspect hard to believe because there just wasn't much to it. Feb 03, Sue rated it really liked it. This is a feel good book, quick read. Everyone has a boyfriend from high school that they cared about but is no longer with. This book explores that with a different ending. Loved the town and setting. Feb 20, Jennifer rated it it was ok. This was an okay short story. The ending was more than predictable. Kate annoyed me much of the story until she finally owed up to her responsibility in the failed relationship.

I liked the characters overall. Mar 10, emma grace rated it it was ok Shelves: Again, another free kindle read that disappointed me. This one was too short for me to get into the story; we never got to know the characters that well, and I wanted there to be more to the story. Stronger writing, stronger female character, etc. Feb 26, Kelli rated it it was amazing Shelves: This was a good quick read.
