Damnation of Pythos is presumably linked to the Pandorax Apocalypse book that came out the other year and some interesting fluff inside that I hope this calls back to. Bulldogging wrote: I'm sorry if I'm out of the loop I don't mind all of one being type being in a single format like the Garro stuff. But the shotgun approach means I'm probably missing some good stories out there that I'll never really run down outside of them putting them into compelations.

Looky Likey. Recent policy seems that limited edition HB then large paperback then small paperback. Recently they seem to have dropped the "standard" hardback, does that seem correct? I'm expecting all of the short stories to be collated in batches into anthologies at some point in the distant future. Problem with this is that it has to be impacting sales, not just in the long term with people deferring purchasing till the cheaper edition is available but long term as well with people either obtaining an illegal copy or forgetting all about it or just plain giving up.
On an Express Elevator to Hell!! Pre order last week. GW stores tomorrow. Other book places 29th. It's was rather enjoyable, I liked the interactions between the Shattered Legions, but it's mainly an Iron Hands novel. The contrast between Galba, an Iron Hands sergeant and his captain Atticus was cool, as it seemed like a back and forth battle on what the soul of the Iron Hands Legion will become. The mounting horror of the buildup to the opening of the Damnation Cache was pretty well done.
It's a stark contrast to how they would all react to the influence of the warp in 40k. The Raven Guard and Salamander characters were minor players but their observations on how they saw the Iron Hands Legion changing was insightful. I'd have liked more from them, but they played enough of a part to get the sense on how their Legions reacted to the Isstvaan massacre and wether it changed them to the same degree as it did the Iron Hands.
My only complaint is that this novel had no major revelations or did it seem to advance the plot.

Have we had any books that take off after "A Thousand Sons"? I'm always happy to read more of Mr Werner's work especially that set in the Old World but I am disappointed that this series is now -- quietly, being turned into a trilogy. It was originally going to be 6 books -- 3 from Mr Kyme 3 from Mr Wraight -- this was then after the release of the first one reduced to 2 books by the same pair of authors Possibly this is -- maybe -- something to do with a possible new edition of WFB..?
