If this is supposed to be erotic romance then I quit the genre once and for all! Where Addicted most certainly failed for me was credibility. The writing is OTT, very unrealistic and the characters are totally silly, unlikable, and unbelievable. Is this supposed to be funny? Needless to say that I disliked both of them. Also, I would go so far and say that her descriptions are absurd at times.

Please read them! Unfortunately not my clothes, Dillon, coz your stare does nothing for me. And he smells much, much better than I thought he would, when he was sat all the way over there like some half side of beef. The glimpse of him is so shocking that I have to turn, to get the full impact—and it is an impact. His ass is like a meteor, smashing down on my defenseless body.

He could beat someone to death with that thing, I think, feverishly. My body flushes so hot it leaps off of me, and gets all over him. Some lady in a hut on top of the Himalayas knows it. She can hear me sobbing with pleasure from all the way over there, every time he drums his fingers against that absolutely existent place inside me.

Get real! And my eyes…I know my eyes are comically wide. But his face is the color of…well…mine, and his cock has made a small military compound under his pants. What bothered me as well was the fact that we didn't get any background information about them. She likes to write kinky stories, is working at a library and has a BFF and Dillon, our sex maniac, likes to have sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex. There is absolutely no chemistry between the two, no sexual tension, no build-up whatsoever.

And where was the eroticism? Unfortunately it was nowhere to be found. I actually thought that I'd be reading an erotic romance; that's the reason why I wanted to read the book in the first place. I guess the writing just turned me off. It was annoying as all get out and an O.

The Down and Dirty Dish on Revenge: Serving It Up Nice and Cold to That Lying, Cheating Bastard

Jan 22, Jill rated it liked it Recommended to Jill by Shelves: contemporary-romance. When Kit realises her inexperience doesn't lend the necessary authenticity to her erotic tales, she enrols in a sexual healing group for inspiration. There she meets the experienced, woman-loving American, Dillon Holt. Dillon is everything Kit's not, outgoing, worldly and knowledgeable.

But as Kit blooms under Dillon's tutelage, she realises that Dillon is hiding his past from her and perhaps from himself. Written in 3. Written in first person from the heroine, Kit's pov, this is how she describes herself compared to her friend.

She's a good friend, Lori. She's tall, I'm not. She's interesting. I am not. Which is probably why I'm writing ridiculous stories about kinky things I'd never dare do. Kit is shy, unsophisticated and has never really connected with anyone before. Dillon in his own words is empty. Charlotte Stein writes erotica and erotic romance. Although I don't read erotica I do occasionally read an erotic romance if there's a story along with all that high-octane sex. I've read a few authors of ER and none particularly interest me the way that Ms Stein does.

She writes very differently to almost any other author. There's a strangely cohesive blend to her writing and to her characters' personalities. Of innocence and experience, immaturity and wisdom, tenderness and roughness, sweetness and eroticism. She says it best when her character, Kit describes Dillon That's exactly Charlotte Stein's writing.

Sextus Propertius: The Love Elegies

Charlotte Stein is very Quentin Tarantino. Like Tarantino she pays homage to a genre that she obviously loves, but with her own unique twist. Her love of romances shines through. But I think she also loves to stand back from these stories and have a giggle at some of the ridiculousness of romance, some of the tropes, the emo, the romantic fantasies, and some of the kinky fantasies.

Which also may work against her appealing to a wider audience of erotic romance readers. I hope not. One of my favourite lines - "No, baby. It gets me off to see you not knowing a single damned thing about yourself, and getting to be the guy who makes sure you learn. Because I am going to be that guy.

Like Ms Stein's other books I've read it is heavy on the narrative. In comparison there's not a lot of dialogue, even between the hero and heroine. She uses the words 'filthy' or 'rude' quite a lot. We're not given a great deal of background into the characters' lives. The revelation and resolution of Dillon's issues come very late in the story and there's very little time spent enjoying their happily-ever-after. And because it's written from Kit's pov we don't get to experience much from Dillon's perspective.

If you love erotic romance that's very well-written and Or these other two titles Sheltered which is my favourite by Charlotte Stein. Or Deep Desires. She offers tantalisingly different stories of erotic romance. View all 86 comments.
