Traditional Algebra 1B provides complete coverage of the algebra concepts typically covered in the second half of an Algebra 1 course. Response to Intervention is an early detection, prevention, and support system that attempts to identify and assist struggling students with appropriate levels of intervention.

Either course sequence can be used to prepare students for courses in higher level mathematics. Math Literacy is designed to develop proportional reasoning and algebraic maturity while focusing on solving real-world applications. Liberal Arts Mathematics promotes analytical and critical thinking as well as problem-solving skills by providing coverage of prerequisite topics and traditional Liberal Arts Math topics on sets, logic, numeration, consumer mathematics, measurement, probability, statistics, voting, and apportionment. Additional topic areas include real numbers, functions, systems of equations, geometry, and trigonometry. Quantitative Reasoning promotes analytical and critical thinking as well as problem-solving skills by providing coverage of prerequisite topics and real-world application topics focused on sets, logic, consumer mathematics, measurement, probability, statistics, voting, apportionment, and functions.

STEM PreCalculus PreCalculus provides comprehensive coverage of prerequisite topics and traditional PreCalculus topics on functions, polynomials, exponential and logarithmic functions, and trigonometry. STEM PreCalculus provides comprehensive coverage of traditional PreCalculus topics, as well as topics geared towards students pursuing careers in mathematics, science, or technology fields. Students seem interested in societal problems like the conditions of workers in coal mines or textile mills, which allows them to explore wages compared to the prices of commodities at the time, to the wages of adult workers, and to the wealth that was accumulated by the owners of industry. Such assignments advance historical context comprehension as well as make sure that students apply mathematical concepts. By teaching them these connections they develop a deeper understanding and opinion of politics and the world around them. As an educator of K-2 students, I try to integrate math into other curriculum areas and into real life examples. My students love when I do a food-shopping lesson, where they have to figure out what they could buy for a set amount of money. Another lesson is learning their address, telephone number, etc. My students enjoy how these lessons integrate math into the curriculum through real life examples. This helps them better understand how to apply what they are learning to their lives.

I never thought to explicitly teach mathematics in my science courses. However, I think I can find a way to connect math to the lives of my students. We identified pathogenic prokaryotes and the humanistic problem of antibiotic resistance. In order to make it even more relevant, I could find a way to connect the statistics of these diseases in certain populations.

If I can find a way to connect math to their lives, I think the benefits my students will receive from this approach will be palpable. I teach K-6 Computers. A good amount of my lessons is given to coding. A great example of introducing them to different math concepts is my lesson on Algorithms. These lessons teach students to break down big problems into smaller ones. They learn to follow a process and numbering helps them keep track of what should be happening first and after. Statway and Quantway are now available in an expanded set of course offerings that include corequisite courses, giving institutions and faculty the ability to more flexibly meet the needs of their students.

Each year, an average of , students will not complete a college level math course, thus creating a barrier to reaching their academic and career goals. We are changing that. Transforming mathematics from a gatekeeper to a gateway takes more than a textbook. It takes a system. Relevant and challenging content that supports career readiness and further mathematics learning. A collaborative instructional approach that builds students' flexible expertise and confidence in learning mathematics.

Educators, administrators, and researchers work to transform mathematics education inside and outside their classrooms. Relevant data analyses that help educators and administrators provide targeted support to their students. So far, more than 40, students across 21 states have enrolled in Statway and Quantway, and since launching in , students in these programs not only complete their introductory college math requirements at triple the rate of their peers, they go on to transfer and graduate at significantly higher rates.

Being part of this network has been wonderful — just interacting with other teachers both in my own college and across the country that are working on this project. I feel like I am growing a new capacity. My self-worth grew as I was encouraged to work through problems, digging deep for understanding.
