Also drills for trills and repeated note finger changes. The only thing is you might teach the beginning finger differently on the flat scales. This is a simplified Hanon for beginners. The only thing I do NOT like is the format of hands 2 octaves apart - so bass is written in contra c region with right hand in middle C position.

Though the reasoning is that the positions are more natural - and that might be true - I don't think it is necessary. Since I don't like this placement it causes some confusion at first with reading and placement. It does have all scales and arpeggios and chromatics too. So it is a good teaching aid for younger students. Have used this Hanon for years I have used this many times to teach students how to keep their eyes on the music and not their hands As well as the "intended" use to strengthen fingers.

My fingers appreciated this Junior Hanon. While my brain learns faster and I'm much better at theory than I was a youngster, my technic was more than a little rusty. My fingers were slower and less pliant and I needed to develop stamina for more difficult pieces. This was perfect for getting everything going again. Used alone or as a stepping stone to Hanon Studies this is highly recommended. My junior Hanon book is great for my smallest one.

Hanon Exercise #1 (Super Fast Version!!!)

This is another great one for younger pianists. It's simple for kids to understand music theory. But need to do it with a teacher because there was not easy to self teach for kids to do it by themselves. Of course if your kids piano prodigy, it should be no problem for them. Perfect for getting fingers going and minds working. One person found this helpful. Wonderful for young people as an introduction to Hanon and skill development.
