True Love - The Chosen Wolf Series - Book 1

I'm not a huge romance fan and it sound/looks a bit like it might be one. .. Lost Wolf is the first book in the Curse of the Moon series and it's different to other.
Table of contents

Were there general issues with the plot or side comments? Yes, but there always are in all books these days. Four out of five stars. There were a few issues with the story though and I believe that part of that may have been world issues that weren't clarified When the book begins, it's with Victoria realizing she has no memories of her life before this moment. And this is where I had the biggest issue with this story. The girl doesn't freak out She's really rather chill and laidback about it all, and that just d My Review: She's really rather chill and laidback about it all, and that just didn't feel right.

Now, like I mentioned before, this could be an unclarified world detail. This is a paranormal world and as the story develops, it's obvious that something supernatural has happened to Victoria. Is it possible that whatever happened to her maybe a spell of some sort that it could have also calmed her so she wouldn't react to her bizarre circumstances I'm thinking a calming spell, maybe? But I don't know But that was just a little niggle. There were a lot of unanswered questions that flow throughout the story.

Chosen Wolf

And it's going to be hard to discuss any of them without revealing spoilers, because there are definitely a TON of unknowns throughout this story. Some answers are revealed in the story and some that are not. This is one of three books and there are a few other things that bothered me, but again, just like my initial niggle, I'm just not sure. At the end of this book, the story is nowhere close to being done At times, the characters read as a little shallow. They are all going through some big emotional hits and that didn't always translate into their actions.

Overall, I did enjoy listening to the audiobook. I thought the narrators did a good job. The world was interesting enough to keep me captivated. I'm just now sure about the story line between Toby and Victoria.

See a Problem?

I think I needed them to be more emotionally vested in one another to get me more emotionally invested. So kind of a wishy-washy review, but the book kind of gave me that feeling, too.

Nov 20, Jenny Prose rated it really liked it. This is an interesting take on alpha shifters finding their mates. This one the Mate had disappeared 40 years ago only to turn up five years ago with no memory of who or what she is. Dec 14, Diane Werning rated it it was amazing. Lost Wolf What an amazing story. You will laugh and you will want to cry. The story will keep you on the edge of your seat till you are done reading this book. I can't wait to read the next book. Apr 22, Mackisha rated it did not like it. I wanted to love it, I really did. But it was all over the place, some parts didn't make sense.

After the she recognized the professor, it all went down hill after that. Ever totally forget to review a book when you meant to? When I remembered, I started listening to it again to refresh my memory and got pulled right back into the story. So I have listened to it twice in about two months time.

I think I liked it a bit better the second time, although I am not sure exactly why because there are problems. Victoria is a freshmen in college and has just moved into her dorm. Attending a party and accepting a date. Pretty normal stuff for a young girl. But, and here is my main problem with this read, she has no memories before she got to campus. Now, me if that happened, I would be at the police department first thing or the hospital to get checked out. Does she do any of that? No, and she tells none of her new friends either. She just goes partying and enjoying herself. It made no sense.

There are at least two more books in this series, and maybe it will finally get explained. There are witches in this book, so possibly a spell? We do get a few answers, but not exact ones.

Reward Yourself

Along the way, she meets Carter. He shows up at her dorm party and pretty much immediately asks her out and of course she goes. Then she goes to her first day of classes and recognizes one of her professors, Toby, and he recognizes her as well. Does either one of them say anything? Another problem I had with this read! Toby is not only a professor, but is also the wolf pack leader in town. So while I liked the initial premise of the story, it was not without its problems.

However, I enjoyed Victoria as a character, even while wishing she would do something already about her missing memories! But as I mentioned, there could be paranormal reasons for this. I really liked Toby and his back story quite a bit. Carter came off as pretty great as well, but he is hiding some things, so that made me not like him as well. Another thing I enjoyed was the inclusion of a supernatural bar, set in the middle of the woods, and spelled against anything not supernatural. At times it reminded me of the Star Wars bar scenes, with all the different aliens, only these were all sorts of supernatural characters.

Cartoonish, and it took me out of the story. But that was really my only problem and I did listen twice so that should count for something, as I do own the eBook as well. On purpose, I have not told much of the story and more intricate details about Victoria. I just think that would take away from the story for the reader. This ended up being a paranormal romance and mystery as well. Maybe, not sure yet. Lots of different kinds of supernatural creatures added to the story and we get to know several of them. I recommend this to paranormal romance readers that like a mystery.

I should also mention that there is violence and some of it is pretty bad.

Hoping for a resolution at then end? The reader gets a partial answer. Her memories and ability to shift were suppressed.

Who did this and why? And would you not expect her to retain some wolfy sense? She let's Carter take her to the Jag regularly and that's the difference to other paranormal books: Victoria is dealing with Jaguars, so called cat shifters. Never heard of them but she also encounters other creatures like a Valkyrie who drinks her essence to find out how much she remembered. Who is responsible for her memory loss? What role are the Jags playing and what will happen to her long lost werewolf love?

May 29, Jennifer Holzapfel rated it it was amazing. Great big tear inducing story of love lost to death but relocated with magic and fortitude. Victoria is just starting her freshman year of college in Washington State. She realizes she can't remember anything prior to arriving at The Waldensian, a mansion that holds 50 students of the college.

She didn't realize she had no memories while she was running the forest trails and came across a wolf that she decided to speak to and it acted like a dog towards her. It wasn't until she made it back home Great big tear inducing story of love lost to death but relocated with magic and fortitude. It wasn't until she made it back home for a barbecue, and a cute guy, Christian Jag asked her to attend a formal dance with her. Her roommate asked her about her family while she was helping her do her hair and makeup. Victoria almost started crying her eyes out, she checked her phone and wallet for any signs of her parents phone number or anything to jog her memory.

She went to The Jag, a super exclusive club that had dining, dancing, and a spa. Christian is very attentive and makes her feel special. Before they go in the dance club section, she is handed a bag that looks like potpourri and has no idea what to do with it. Christian is handed his own bag and he takes a huge sniff and puts it inside his tux and hands Victoria's bag back to the bouncers. They danced all night. When she has about 2 hours sleep, it is time for freshman orientation and she is running on fumes. Her roommate drags her out of bed and makes her head for the shower.

At orientation she is introduced to her statistics professor Foley. Professor Foley looks at her and she has a flash of what he smells like and how his hair feels. She cannot concentrate on anything he says. Toby Foley has been searching for Victoria for so long, his favorite witch found a general location and there she is, one of his students. He can tell she has no memories and wants to figure out how she didn't shift on the full moon.

She locates Toby, and is embarrassed that he is nude and filthy, so she runs upstairs to the closet she hid in and brings him waiter clothes and they both take off out of there. She is pissed when she finds out she was bait to lure him to the club. Will she find out how or why, and will she regain her memory of her life before showing up at the college by trusting Toby and his friends to help her? Aug 06, Phoeebsta rated it really liked it. Lost, confused, forgotten that is what Victoria felt when she arrived at uni.

Everything that has happened before she had gotten to uni was no existent in her memory. The book has a very nice story line that smoothly flows nicely. The book has unanswered questions to what happened to the characters and what is going to happen urging you to carry on reading. Another problem I had was the emotions some of the characters portrayed where a little odd. Over a I thought it was a lovely book to read. Especially if you enjoy romance, supernatural beings. Chosen Wolf (Audiobook) by Stacy Claflin | leondumoulin.nl

This one seems to be all about the story being spread across the books with a few threads pulled in each book, if that makes any sense? No one in the pack has a clue about him? I've tried to read another of SC's books with no success, so I might just have to give her a miss. Mar 16, Jennifer G rated it really liked it. Lost Wolf is the first book I have read by Stacy Claflin. I absolutely plan to continue with this series. This book was nicely written, had wonderful characters, and an entertaining story. Victoria has arrived at college when she suddenly discovers that she has no memories.

A normal reaction would be to freak out, freak everyone around you out, head to the hospital, police station, do something. Instead she goes on a date with a hot new guy.

The only thing she notices that may have significance to her lost past is that jaguars keep popping up around her, including the new hottie Carter Jag. Victoria's life gets even more confusing when classes start. She feels a connection to her Stats teacher Mr. She knows his touch, his smell, even his name Toby. Yet each time she has an opportunity to get answers, she panics and runs. She's incredibly drawn to him, yet continues to be with Carter. Her behavior makes no sense, so I chalked it up to the spell that she's under. I did not like Carter and Victoria.

I was turned off by his over the top behavior. I just never trusted him.

Toby, on the other hand, was wonderful. I loved everything about him. I loved how he assembled and led his assorted pack. His relationships with other paranormals was a nice touch. I adore the love story of Toby and Victoria. I felt his love and pain, his guilt and frustration, his fear and hope. I was happy with how the story played out, but I am hoping for answers in the next book.
