Ragged as the Road
The breakfast was really good and again the service was brilliant. Great stay. A really pretty hotel and good location and dinner but the staff had clearly not been on any customer service training. The staff reaction to my twin bed request and to a broken shower was pure Fawlty Towers - so bad we actually laughed about it after we cancelled our last night. The original room we was checked into had a shower tray that overflowed and flooded the bathroom floor, and to make matters worse there was not hot water during first attempt to have a shower as the boiler for the property had developed a fault and switched off.
The rooms had nice big beds that where comfortable, the location was nice and quiet.
The food was very nice and reasonably priced. The staff where very accommodating and moved us to a new room straight away and fixed the issue with the boiler so we could have a nice shower later that evening. There was nothing I disliked. The ambiance of The Ragged Cot is lovely. We are pretty old. StillWe enjoyed the atmosphere of the music lovely. On arrival we booked in for an evening meal, but on being seated we were informed 4 of the 7 meals were unavailable, and our starter failed to arrive.
The radiator in our room was constantly full on unable to turn off reported on morning of our 2nd day. On return in evening nothing changed and staff said nothing they could do open a window Hotel is fine, but these issues could be dealt with better.
Oh yes bed a bit hard for me. Had meal out 2nd evening. Location was fine and the breafkast was very good. The room in itself met a reasonable standard, especially considering the price paid. The cost of a drink was also reasonable in comparison to other hotels.
Comfy room and bed. The shower in the room was cold - I reported it in the morning- but no action was taken. I spoke with the evening staff and they helped to get a warmer shower but it could only be run with a low flow and not full power. I stayed 2 nights and the room was not cleaned or restocked on the second day.
The mattress on the bed was very hard and board like. The wooden boarding around the sink was starting to suffer from water damage and the carpets were stained and starting to fray away from the room dividers. The Ragged Cot is in a good location and looks a very nice property with lots of parking. The postal code not that accurate especially if you are driving at night and coming from The left side of the road to the Ragged Cot.
You need to drive slightly in front about 40m before the sign is visible. Should be no problem coming from the right side of the road. Not too far from Cotswold Upper and Lower Slaugter.
