It is particularly famous as one of the best children's bookshops in the USA, but also has a really good selection of books for 'grown-ups'. A bright and welcoming place where children were welcomed and made to feel completely at home. A shop which will help foster the love of books and reading amongst young children. The staff were so knowledgeable and very helpful. Whilst my 3 year-old grandson inspected the shelves, dipped into a picture book or two and made a selection of books he fancied, his mother and I browsed the other catagories.
Managed to find myself four books of American fiction not available as yet in the UK, so I was very pleased! My daughter was delighted to find some books that were perfect for gifts. If you are visiting Cape Cod you will find lots of guide books, books on the local history, fiction by local authors and recipe books for Cape Cod seafood cuisine.

Excellent I loved this book as a child, and even though it may strike some as preachy, there are some real feminist matters discussed in this text: eating healthy food, learning to bake bread, exercising in appropriate clothes, resisting fashions which are harmful for your body, loving your relatives some more than others and seeing the fine qualities of a servant.
The New England merchant culture comes to life in this book. This was one of my favorite books as a child! Classic Louisa May Alcott but one of her lesser known works. It's smart, funny, educational and relatable!
Eight Cousins
Charming "new" cast of characters from the always interesting Louisa May Alcott. Just a few chapters in I've been so absorbed that I ordered the sequel, "Rose in Bloom. In my opinion, this book is even better than Little Women : It tells the story of a girl who has always been an only child, but after her parents' deaths, she is taken in by her relatives, and must learn how to deal with seven rowdy boys, several aunts, and an uncle who can, at times, be just as bad as any of the boys.
I have loved this book ever since I was eight years old. I loved this as a child. I love it as an adult. My granddaughters love it! My daughter read this book in one day. It is very interesting. This book is about a girl whose parents died, and she had to go live with her aunts. Her eight boy cousins entertain her, while her uncle takes care of her. A wonderful book about a young lady who goes to live with her maiden aunts and along the way forges strong familial bonds with her eight boy cousins, each with their own unique personalities and tastes, but all who grow to love her and let Rose become a confidant, a sounding board and a foil to their shenanigans.
