No-Bake Vegan Brownies with Chocolate Ganache

No dairy, eggs, shortening or oils, or sugar other than the natural ones in the fruit. Just down to earth wholesome products. I have made two of the recipes already. Both have been great! I will never eat traditional cornbread again. Susan's recipe was outstanding--very moist and tasteful. Even my husband says they are good. If you are looking for a wholesome and tasty way to make your traditional baked goods, I would encourage you to give this book a try. I like too that she explains how and why she chose the foods she did when putting together the recipes.

As well, I like the calorie and nutrition breakdown. I would definitely buy more of Susan's books. I love this book. It's just what I was looking for! It's sweet enough and satisfying, but had the freshest flavor and that almond-date crust just almond meal and chopped, pitted dates through a food processor was so yummy, I'm going to incorporate it into more desserts. I was also able to be a little flexible with the recipe.

I'll be making it again and using more of the recipes Watch "Fed Up" and you'll really want to leave all but dates behind, too with the help of this book! I usually search for new recipes online and rarely buy cookbooks. I'm a no sugar, no soy, no added fat, whole food vegan that usually uses agave, so this cookbook fits my needs and expands my horizon. One advantage I'm surprised to find owning "Bake with Dates" is discovering recipes I'm interested in that didn't occur to me.

The recipe range is very thorough and includes cookies I'd never heard of, Linzer and Thumbprint.

Don't let the title fool you, there's more than baking included here. Wonderful recipes for dressings, sauces, drinks, shakes, fruit salads and a great mango chutney. I made the Blueberry muffins last week and was impressed. Today I made the Banana Bread - this is the best banana bread I have ever tasted! Once you get a few easily found ingredients, the recipes are simple to put together. I am using a nutribullet to liquify the dates, no problems. No oil, no processed sugar, no animal products at all and lovely baked goods, yay!

I do hope Susan Lowenberg writes more of these types of recipes. My husband and I have enjoyed the recipes I've tried so far, mostly cakes and frostings.

The article you linked to says that the sugars listed are better because they contain nutrition. I consider next to no nutrition to be negligible.
