Derick Varn Top Contributor: Guest's poetry is painterly and images often hold poems together, but unlike many of other poets linked to the New York School, Guest has an attention to poetic lyrics that can often get lost in James Schuyler and Frank O'Hara. Her late works move into more and more surrealism until she read almost like a language poet.

Must say I'm shocked no one in the poetry world has taken the time to acknowledge Guest's astounding poetic accomplishments here The collected poems of Jack Spicer came out at the same time and seemed to capture all the attention Once again it looks as though Barbara's work will be ignored.
