I love the variety as well, it really is a mix of all different kinds of art. Love the Playground piece the most I think. Have you been to Penang? Yes, that was my response to the foil building as well.

From METRO train conductor to acclaimed street artist

Wow, thats lots of good work. I have an eye for street art and I love visiting places which promote that. Its fun to walk around and stumble upon a new art work, here and there. I will keep Warsaw in mind. I totally agree — one of my favourite things to do is find a piece of street art that I love, completely unintentionally.

I hope you get to see Warsaw soon because I know you will enjoy it! I also like street art, having long ago been taken in by the colorful graffiti on those NY trains. As I remember it… graffiti was how all outdoor art was thought of back then — no matter the content or ability. I remain fascinated with creative and expressive street art that can be found even in the most unexpected places.

Just the other day… the sidewalk in the Plaza Civicio was brightened with chalk drawings of the many faces of the Mexican people.

Is street art legal, per se, in Warsaw or are there restrictions — such as who can paint, what can be painted, or where artworks are permitted to be painted? The thematic Tibet series certainly serves as an excellent way to highlight the oppression of Tibetans in China and the paintings also brighten and enliven what looks like a rather sterile walkway. A few years ago, when visiting my brother in Pittsburgh, we took a stroll along the downtown river walk where photographic pieces highlighting the refugee crisis were being exhibited and just a few weeks ago in San Miguel, on one of the pedestrian only streets, large photos of local San Miguelians were displayed highlighting their contributions in making San Miguel such a vibrant cultural city.

While these may not qualify as examples of street art per se or do they? Not to mention that it can also be just a lot of fun to enjoy. Great selection of photos. I also have NY trains to thank for part of my introduction to street art. The mental image of the colourful tags and scrawls on those metal trains always pops into my head when I think about the subject.

Living by a street-art-approved area must give you a new view each time you look out of your window! One day it could be flowers, the next skulls, then birds maybe. Or someone might cover it in tin foil. I think the UK is the only European place where strict jail time is enforced if convicted, or at least, that the UK is one of the countries in Europe that hands down the harshest punishments. You may just be fined if caught in Warsaw. Do you like it? Your email address will not be published. Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment. This, my brain confidently told me, was street art. The artwork even extends across to the side of the road.
