I think I would have liked it better if the heroine had the upper hand in their weird power play and made the hero surrender, despite him being the alpha.

No he has to convince Maple that he is serious about her and not the arrogant jerk he portrayed to be. Talk about insta-love! I understand this was supposed to be a sexy short story, but I felt cheated. The story had so much potential, but it was so short nothing really made sense and it was so super unbelievable.
