Hi I hv not made this cake yet but i am planning to make it soon. I wana know how to decide how much gel color should be added in batter to get the perfect vibrant color after baking. Because i have read many reviews that color are much fade after baking n not as per expectations. This rainbow cake is looking so delicious and colourful.

My sister has made it twice, itwas fantastic!!!! My Mom always made this cake for me and my brother on our birthday! My all-time favorite! This looks like a very good cake to make for my birthday. It was more than just a "kids cake. Bake at degrees for 24 minutes, rotating pans half way through baking. It seems like a ton of frosting but you will use it all on a nine- inch cake. This was the first time I have baked using food coloring, and I was very pleased with the vibrant colors from the Wilton Icing Colors kit.

Just made this cake and I give it 10 stars! I had gel coloring and regular food coloring. I used both.

The Wilton gel coloring I had worked just as well as the food coloring drops. The flavor of this cake was amazing!! Sprayed well with Pam. The cake did not stick. Baked 3 at a time.

Cooled over night and iced the next day. Used 2 cans of store bought icing to do crumb layers. Made buttercream icing, loosely following the recipe above. Vanilla and 1 bag powdered sugar. Used Italian Cream coffee creamer instead of milk. Frosting was sweet and rich! Used less than half of the batch for the cake, but the other half in the freezer.

Cake turned out a little over 7 inches tall and a little over 8 inches in diameter. This cake would easily serve 14 if not Didn't have any problems with the cake breaking or cracking. I would highly recommend this recipe! Same here.

Spent multiple hours, followed directions to a T. A true disaster. Laughed and cried. My poor granddaughter has to have a store cake. The layers were so thin and the icing was VERY runny. It took soooooo long to make and turned out disastrous and we were so disappointed. I definitely do not recommend this recipe :. This cake is HUGE. So huge that it is ridiculous, in my opinion.

It will not fit in any cake carrier. How does anyone store such a monstrosity? Also it is very plain in taste. I added Jello flavoring to each layer to match the color and that made it really good!
