I just loved this book. They are articles that Golden wrote for his monthly periodical. He writes alot about growing up Jewish on the Lower East Side, immigrant assimilation, Tammany Hall, Southern culture he moved to Charlotte , politics, and just plain common sense. He was a liberal, but a sensible one do those exist anymore. His tongue-in-cheek advice for dealing with the racial integration crisis is hilarious Put an 'out of order' sign on the white drinking fountain; soon people will I just loved this book. This was fun to read and get a glimpse of another time. I hadn't read Golden before, but like columnists in my time who share the same spotlight he did. The world of post WWII is interesting to visit in this day and age.
