I'm a fast reader but I find I have to force myself to pick it up. There is some good information in here but there's so much repetition that it's almost lost. Some of the organization also has me scratching my head - the section on writing content raising money for charity seemed just odd following a discussion on writing technical instructions.
The section on instructions was a good refresh for anyone who's had technical writing experience but that level of detail would be more appropriate for written instructions not something on a Web page. While much of his information isn't new, it is highly practical. English includes good sections on podcasts and digital photography, as well as handy pointers for creating email marketing campaigns.
Surprisingly, though writing is an emphasis of this guide, it has an occasional typo and other minor grammatical hiccups. Those issues aside, getAbstract recommends it to novice web writers and fledgling webmasters, and to company leaders who want to maximize their firms' web presence. Some of its tips could easily reimburse you for the cost of the book. I breezed through "Web Content Rx" in an afternoon.
The book's advice is as simple as its layout. Some of the points, however, are repetitive: Nevertheless, "Web Content Rx" could not have arrived at a better time.

As a veteran journalist, English's book showed me that web writing is NOT writing for print publication. Thanks to the easy-to-understand manual, I was able to rewrite the text on my website, [ I am a content manager and content writer for a living, and just read this book last night. This book contains excellent advice that I had to learn the hard way over the past few years. I can only imagine the amount of time that I could have saved if I had read this book sooner! It is well-written, easy to understand, and presented in a very effective manner.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who works with Web content and would like to improve their presentation and style. This book really helped me pinpoint how writing for a technical audience differs from writing for a general, online audience. The examples were clear, informative, and well placed.
