She works the characters well, weaves a good story, and you feel connected. It begins a bit fast, but was necessary to the short story. Joe and Colt were fierce. All they really wanted was revenge, but Dakota made them both think twice. Dakota was strong and I really liked her character. I kind of wish a day or 2 had gone by before all the lovin' got started - the instant, i love you for always and forever kind of stuff kind of wrecks a story for me, but then again - it is a story. Their story is enjoyable but it is short and because of this has an insta-love situation. I've read this story before and it's a fave that I'll probably reread in the future.
Dakota has a ranch she's struggling to keep going. Her next door neighbor, Big Ed, has been trying to buy her land out from under her for a while. He started with her father first and when he died, the neighbor focused on her. He's been stealing her catt 4 stars This was a very good story. He's been stealing her cattle, burning her buildings and doing other bad things to try to get her to sell and leave and since he pretty much owns the town she's screwed.
Joe and Colt were raised on ranches in a small town. Due to some trouble with a jerk that cheated them, Joe and Colt went to prison for a murder they didn't commit. They got out 3 years ago and have been looking to get even with the man ever since. Joe and Colt show up at Dakota's ranch looking for work.
Dakota's Cowboys (Dakota Heat, #3) by Leah Brooke
She's suspicious of them but her instincts tell her they don't work for Big Ed so she's tempted to hire them when they offer to work for room and board. She's pretty sure they'll get run off by Big Ed soon so she agrees to hire them. There's an instant and very strong attraction between the 3 of them. Joe and Colt intend to keep their distance from her at first, just work for her and do what they need to do and then move on. They're determined to help her before they go but make it clear they won't be staying.
The trio quickly falls into a relationship but it's tainted by the fact that the guys will leave eventually and they all know it and dread it. It takes a bit but the situation with Big Ed comes to a head and there's some drama and a bit of danger as everything is resolved. Things do end with a HEA for the trio. I enjoyed this story very much. I liked Dakota, Colt and Joe and liked their interactions and chemistry together.
The story was short but worked well for me.

Overall, this story is a very good cowboy menage with a strong heroine. I'd recommend this story. This series of books have been shorter than any of the other books Ms. Brooke's has published so far and I think that is the problem for me. She can write such wonderful characters that come off the page and take up residence in your imagination. You know them as well as you would a friend. I understand wh I am not sure why this book didn't catch my interest like the previous books of Ms.
I understand why Joe and Colt didn't want to tell Dakota why they were in the area. I am sure they have trust issues but Dakota seemed to understand their background and would have listened to them if they had fully explained the situation to her. This is a quick easy read that those that love alpha male cowboys would probably enjoy.

Dakota has been dealing with violence barn burning down while everyone in town stands and watches it happen going as far as not taking her custom in shops she depends on her bestie to bring her food and supply's for farm. Dakota Cowboys by Leah Brooke This was a pretty good story overall just a bit short to be a full length novel at 11 chapters. The story could have been better but overall an enjoyable read! Oh, and I love a delicious western menage!! The more the merrier!! I loved this story! She works the characters well, weaves a good story, and you feel connected. It begins a bit fast, but was necessary to the story. Loved Shayne the best, sweet big guy!! Samantha was a stand up, strong woman trying to clean up messes her brother made. When she's threatened, Jackson and Shayne help her out.
She has feelings for them right away, and she begins the agreed duties of cooking their meals. Their relationship moves fast, but it's great.

I loved the way she was with Shayne, and how she handled the situation after the attack. I was so tuned into the erotic sex scenes, I was surprised at myself. I got the other books in this series also. That shows how much I liked them. But these characters were terrific to me. I love the concept, the plot, and the steamy relationship. My only issue was the story is too short to really develop some of the emotional bits that the story ended with. I love my HEA's with a touch of probability and this story seemed to lack that.
I will happily read more books by this author though. If you can move past how quickly they fall in love, it is a good story. Damsel in distress with a brother who takes advantage, two cowboys, one who thinks he is too rough for her and throw in a couple of different bad guys that are after her because of other people Some drama, some hot sex and a happy ever after.
This was a short read. But it has every in it that makes a good book.
