Not when I read Evermore four years ago, and not now. Sep 22, Heidy rated it it was amazing Recommends it for: People who love young love books. This book is breathtaking, because there are intence love moments that I even forget to breathe. It made me feel like is I was living it,it felt so real. I learned that when you are jealous because someone stole your boyfriend don't get mad at the person that he loves because it is not her fault. And I would recommend this book to those who love romance books about teenagers, because it is about young love.

Jun 17, Aliyah Northington rated it did not like it. If you're looking for a light summer read, this is not it. This book was awful, and it doesn't even have a real ending. I wanted to stop reading it about 20 pages in, but I decided to give it a chance. I never regret reading anything, but this was really not worth my time. Jan 09, Abigail Hirst rated it did not like it Shelves: I loved the whole California vibe as its one of my favourite places in the world, and I really loved the whole surf scene.

Other than that I struggled to love other aspects of Laguna Cove. I felt there were too many characters to get a real grasp on their personalities and the story I felt didn't have too much structure in terms of passing or time scale. Jul 25, Janelle rated it did not like it Shelves: I read about half this book before I finally just couldn't do it any longer.

Everything about it was cliche and it just started to get really annoying how everything was so perfect for everyone all the time.

So I gave up. I don't suggest it to anyone! It was beyond boring. Not at all what I expected. Too many characters and not enough story devoted to them. Too much left hanging. Not all that impressed. It has a good introduction of the characters, definitely cliche ending but still its a good book.

Laguna Cove by Alyson Noël | Book Review

However, it could be more detailed. It seems like Alyson was trying to squeeze the whole ending in the last 20 pages. There is no closure about Anna's family. There is no the "talk" between Anna and Chris about what happened the day before. Jake was kind of left hanging, he came out strong in the beginning of the book but slowly fade away, resurface near the ending but got swept away again.

There is no ending about Jade. The character came out so strong when her father were talking about moving away, wanted to give some emotions to readers but again gone without definite closure. And how about her and Ben? Dean came out too late in the book. Jul 20, Patricia Cortez rated it it was ok. This was a light summer read but I was pretty disappointed with the ending. As many reviewers have brought up, a number of interesting storylines were introduced but were never followed through or properly explained. Despite the story following the lives of four different people, only one character's story received a proper ending.

I felt like this story was underdeveloped in so many ways. Feb 12, Ashley rated it really liked it. Easy light summer reading! Perfect for the beach or pool while relaxing. Typical teen summer romance! Oct 08, Angela rated it it was amazing. Aug 01, Kristian rated it it was amazing.

Apr 01, Chrissy rated it liked it Shelves: Starting with the plot Anne has been forced to uproot her high school existence and move all the way to Laguna Beach to live with her father after her parents' divorce. After her elite prep school upbringing in Connecticut, Anne is completely unprepared for the life of glitz and glam that awaits her in California. As she assimilates into the popular teen crowd, Anne encounters a handsome boy named Chris who seems to show possibilities for a romantic future. Except, queen bee Ellie, the most b Starting with the plot Except, queen bee Ellie, the most beautiful, popular girl in school, seems to have a motive for keeping Anne and Chris apart.

Anne may be the new girl in school, but she's not willing to step down yet Sound like something you've read before? It really felt that way to me, and I'm fairly certain being new to YA fiction and all that I haven't actually encountered this exact plot line yet. Even so, it felt a bit predictable which may or may not be a problem depending on your preferences.

As far as the characters go, nobody was really developed that well in this novel.

Anne seemed to be your typical "new girl" There's not much depth beyond this, even as she deals with her parent's divorce and the learns to adapt to a completely new surrounding. Friends Jade and Lola just seem to be thrown in to make the book longer, as one is dealing with a "forbidden" relationship and the other is learning to rebel against her parents -- but they stood out so little in my mind that I don't exactly remember which is which. Ellie, supposedly a "mean girl" just didn't seem all that mean at any point through the story.

Every time she made a biting, witty remark, she seemed to brood over it, and even as she used boys to her advantage she didn't quite seem to do it well. And, her "decision" in the end? The character felt so weakly developed that I was neither surprised nor expectant of that ending.

I was pretty uninterested either way, I suppose. I did enjoy the writing style, though, as the novel was comprised of seventy-three extremely short chapters, alternating between a third-person perspective from the various girls. This made it a perfect bath-time, TV, or beach read if I were anywhere near a beach, that is , as it was no problem breaking up the story for chapter breaks. I seem to enjoy shorter chapters more, if for no other reason than the feeling of accomplishment I find from passing yet another marking point so quickly. If I were a younger teenage girl, I'm sure I'd have enjoyed this as a quick summer read.

As a twenty-something reviewing teen books, I'd say I'm a little underwhelmed with this one. May 29, Gayatri rated it really liked it. This book did not blow me away however I do not think it meant to. It was the perfect light summer read and the characters were extremely relatable. The lines between good and bad were blurred and it shows that nobody is perfect. The story was basically about four girls. The East Coast Girl who moved to sunny Cali and badly wanted to fit in. Anne was a diving champ at her old school and she was sent across the country to California against her wishes to live with her dad where she met Chri This book did not blow me away however I do not think it meant to.

Anne was a diving champ at her old school and she was sent across the country to California against her wishes to live with her dad where she met Chris who offered to teach her how to surf. This didn't go well with Ellie. Chris and Anne fought when Anne accidentally told Chris that Ellie was in love with him however they got back together on Ellie's advice. She had a crush on Chris forever but Chris clearly liked Anne and therefore she was mean to Anne but Ellie wasn't the stereotypical mean girl.

She had an overbearing father and her mother had died from cancer and at the end of the book she realised friendship was more important than crushing on a boy who clearly liked someone else. Lola was one of Ellie's best friends who took an extreme liking to Anne. She lived in an old fashioned family who tried to dictate her life.

Even who she dated. Lola went through a lot of issues through the book. Her boyfriend dumped her and then her parents decided to play match making and set her up with a boy who was gay. They pretended to have a relationship so their parents would be happy while they dated other people in secret. Jade was Ellie's other best friend.

Laguna Cove

Jade was extremely optimistic and trusting and she loved to help people but, when Jade came across Ben everybody told her he was bad news. She didn't listen and continued trying to help him. However when Ben was drunk and stoned and she was driving him home she found herself at the police station.

Her parents who were usually very easy going and understanding got very angry and grounded her explaining that maybe Ben did not want help. She learned something very valuable and her parents allowed her to go to the Surf Fest to watch her friends. This was a moral based story and I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to reading more books like this in the future and if you are looking for a light sweet read this book is for you This review is also available on my blog http: Jul 22, Sara Shalash rated it liked it.

After reading such a heavy read earlier, Laguna Cove was just what I needed to lighten the mood. It was fast, enjoyable, and very fluffy.

Get A Copy

It was the perfect mindless read to take your mind of things. It felt nice to jump into the warm environment of Laguna Cove. Although I did enjoy this one, I did have some issues about it. I love summer reads! This book contain two books of a great summer, filled with finding yourself, new loves, and new friends. The first book, Laguna Cove is about a girl named Anne who moves half way across the country after her parents nasty divorce. Anne is dumped in an abandoned home and hates it. Let me say the both these stories deal with a divorce and finding peace in it.

Anne had to learn to deal with her mom's new relationship and her dad's career. The parents I felt were selfish. For me, all I saw was that they really didn't care for their daughter but for themselves. Ann meets new friends, a new guy and find herself in surfing. I wasn't to keen on the ending.

Forever Summer

It made it seem all fake. The second book is about Colby who is this time, sent half way across the world during her parents divorce. Put in an uncompromisable position, Colby starts a blog called Cruel Summer in which she writes down everything that she is going through. Now this story was a story that a reader can relate to. I really liked how the reader got to see the anger of Colby and how the divorce effected her. Her mistakes, her flaws, made the character Colby easier to relate.

Colby in the end, dealt with the divorce as best as she could. Both stories were good and very predictable.

See a Problem?

It was easy to read and very easy to get into. Both stories revolve around the summer forcing each girl to examine whats going on now, how to deal with it and be contempt in who they are now no matter what there parent do. Angry Anna loathes moving into the exclusive home of her movie producer father in Laguna Cove because her cheating mom is divorcing her dad to live with her boyfriend.

She loathes leaving behind her boyfriend, her friends, and the diving team. Her dad is too busy to meet her at the airport so he sends his lackey Jake to do so. He introduces her to his friend Chris before dumping her at the house so he can surf. At school, she feels like the outsider except for Chris until she meets his friends. Chris becomes her boyfriend but Ellie loathes the newcomer though Anna is unsure why. Seventeen-year-old Colby has made plans for the summer but those she proposes her parents disposes. They inform her she will spend the summer with her crazy Aunt Tally on a Greek island no one outside of Greece heard of.

Instead she wants to remain the new BFF to the school's coolest person Amanda and hang with hunk Levi. Colby joins her nutty aunt only to learn she has no cell phone service or internet access; and forget about a zillion channels - no TV. She becomes confused about her feelings when she meets Yannis the teen islander. These reprints of two summer high school tales are fun due to the well rounded lead females as Alyson Noel captures the essence of the belligerent bewildered teen; they each brings resentment, confusion, and vigor to the changes in their respective lifestyles caused by their parents.

Readers will enjoy the worst and greatest summers in the lives of angry Anna and cantankerous Colby. See all 6 reviews. Customers who viewed this item also viewed.
