CUMBERLAND FURNACE & OTHER FEAR FORGED FABLES :: Horror :: Bad Moon Books

I'm remiss in not reviewing this collection earleir, but Ron Kelly steps up to the plate and really creams several outta the park in this one. Cripes, the story with the drive in alone had me laughing and shaking my head. Twisted, funny, chilling and laced with more atmosphere than Venus, Cumberland Furnace will satisfy any lover of horror. The historical perspectives provided a foundation to the story and realistic accounts of events that the superstitious amongst us could easily see occurring.

Wow, such a subtle story that shows how the best people sometimes have two sides and one is well hidden from the public eye. I was enthralled in the story and much like the previous one, the slow descent into knowledge of what was going on was something to behold.

I really enjoyed this but there isn't a whole lot for me to say without spoiling anything, so read it! The Thing at the Side of the Road: A definite change in tone from the previous two stories, a good old fashioned horror story about doing stupid stuff getting you killed.

With a bit of pitch black humor just to lighten the load. So I'm not really sure what to say about this one, it was quick and bizarre, and with a rather odd setting and perspective on the story. Kinda goes along the lines of not knowing the truth about people as well as some interesting familial dynamics and whatnot. Quite entertaining for sure, though I'll admit I wasn't really sure what I was supposed to be getting out of it, if anything. Yeah, I'll admit that even though the writing was cool and the story flowed very well, I have no idea what just happened.

A ghost story, fable more like, about someone with a big heart who continued attempting to do the right thing formany years. Heart warming and just a little bit spooky as well. The setting and details might make this my favorite of the bunch.
