Definitely a 5 Boundless Star book! Nov 07, Brian O'Leary rated it it was ok. Same as usual I don't know why I continue to torture myself Alex and Milo are great characters, the case is interesting but it is about pages too long. I should get them on CD, the abridged version! Sep 04, Jo rated it it was amazing. This is a reread. My husband is in the hospital so I have plenty of time to read and have pulled out some books that I wanted to reread again. This is another great one--lots of twists and keeps you guessing.

Aug 03, Tonya Lucas rated it really liked it. A good book, but to many characters, to me it Kept getting off course. So did she kill someone, if so who, and when? Mar 05, Kelly I really wanted to like this book. I was happy to have Alex working with a previous patient as I like the premise that he works with children.

Unfortunately though this book was dull. It starts slow and stays slow. Even Rubinstein cannot save it despite his excellent narration. This book started out as a general run of the mill mystery. The author seemed to have a formula for writing that obviously the publishers like but which read to me like a screen play. Start the scene with an exact time and place, give a rundown of what clothes the characters are wearing right down to their socks, have a conversation such as "this person asks this question, this person responds".

I found it almost comical how predictable the pattern became. I would even venture to guess the publi This book started out as a general run of the mill mystery. I would even venture to guess the publisher came back and said something like we need to see more description of the characters. I imagine Kellerman going to his most fashion conscious friend and giving them the task of dressing each character each time the scene changes.

This was a bit annoying but even so I would have given this book 3 stars. Then came about chapter The nature of the crimes was disgusting! Nobody wants to think about disgusting perverted people doing disgusted perverted things! And it is introduced at nearly the end of the book, making me feel tricked that I had invested so much time only to find out it wasn't what I thought it was. There are so many millions of books to read that I won't waste my time reading Kellerman again.

Dec 02, B J Burton rated it it was ok. According to the blurb and the quoted extracts from reviews he is a highly-rated writer of psychological thrillers with complex plots. As much of the content is speech, I often found that I had no understanding of what a character had said. Number 21 in the Alex Delaware series, Obsession was more than competent. If the plot was a bit convoluted and the surprise ending rather far-fetched, this installment is still a good read that delivers the signature Jonathan Kellerman bonus: May 26, Jackie W.

I love Jonathan Kellerman Who isn't real, but I love all the same. I always wished for an Alex Delaware movie Michael Vartan would be perfect. I read this on the beach It kept me going. The last pages of his books are so fun May 10, El rated it it was amazing. Again - a great book. Jul 14, Linda Harris rated it really liked it. Not crazy about this one. Boring people chasing their tail trying to figure out even if a crime has been committed. For me it was over before it began! Jul 11, Sandie rated it really liked it Shelves: Alex Delaware is surprised to hear from Tanya Bigelow.

Years ago, he successfully treated her as a little girl with OCD tendencies. Now Tanya is nineteen and her problems are as grown up as she is.

Her aunt, Patty Bigelow, has recently died. Patty was an ER nurse, very good at her job and very organized. She stepped up and raised Tanya when her mother dropped her off as a two year old so she is the only mother Tanya remembers. Before Patty died, she made a startling confession. She started t Dr.

She started telling Tanya she had killed someone but died before she could give any details. Was this the truth or was it the pain-filled fantasy of someone in the last minutes of life?

Delaware wants to help Tanya although he finds it hard to believe someone like Patty could have ever killed anyone. He enlists the aid of his friend, Detective Milo Sturgis, and between the two of them they start to piece together Patty's life all those years ago. Adding veracity to Patty's confession is the fact that one of the first people they talk to turns up dead days later. They come to realize that Patty was telling the truth and that someone evil is stalking Tanya.

Can they find him before he finds Tanya? This is the twenty-first novel in the Alex Delaware series. It's one of my favorites as there is lots of action but little gore or violence for the sake of violence. There is always a mystery and it is entertaining to watch as it unfolds. The friendship between Alex and Milo is interesting and the ability for them to solve crimes with their mixture of orthodox police investigation and Alex's psychological insights is intriguing.

This book is recommended for mystery readers. Jan 25, Jarmby rated it it was ok Shelves: The Alex Delaware stories are very much hit or miss. This was very much a miss. I thought the biggest miss in this was the totally unconvincing story it sought to tell. On the whispers of a dying women to her psychologically disturbed niece Alex and his good old buddy Milo Sturgis set off to solve a murder mystery where the victim if indeed there is unknown.

Milo who , is on holidays , apparently long overdue , takes the opportunity to invest all of his time and the LAPDs resources on the mystery. Naturally the duo soon unearth some clues and with an inordinate amount of good fortune uncover quite a few nasty people in and around LA.

Perhaps because the whole plot is so implausable the more annoying story telling habits of Kellerman stand out. A detailed description of each semi important characters clothing is boring, tiresome and adds on very few occasions assistance in picturing who he wants us to visualise. Having read all of the series up to here , due to Kellermans need to describe the route taken by Alex to wherever he sojourns I feel I could navigate my way around that fine burgh having never been there with the surety of a taxi driver. Accepting that I have served my penance by finishing this 'miss ' offering I feel the odds for the next one to be a'hit' are quite good Aug 01, Andi Boulanger rated it liked it.

I read this after reading Deception, another Alex Delaware novel. The story in this one was a little convoluted even for the genre and went to some unpleasant places I wasn't expecting, but it is just so much fun to follow Alex and Milo around as they riff off each other. It sets this series up for a different approach to looking at people. Now, fifteen years later, Tanya is back in Alex's office, a self-possessed Harvard student, about to enter graduate school in clinical psychology. Patty - the only real mother she's ever known - has died and left Tanya with a chilling legacy: Tanya has tried to let go of the confession.

But it soon becomes clear that nothing short of finding out the truth will do. And she needs Alex's help Obsession Alex Delaware, No. Turn of the Century Published: Withdrawn from the library collection.
