In the course of his study, Studebaker shows the theological yield of the Pentecostal experience of the Holy Spirit and uncovers the biblical narratives of the Spirit from creation to Pentecost. A constructive and ecumenical contribution to Trinitarian theology, From Pentecost to the Triune God also engages major historical and contemporary figures such as Augustine , the Cappadocians, Weinandy , and Zizioulas , as well as representatives from the evangelical and charismatic traditions.

Finally, Studebaker applies his Pentecostal Trinitarian theology to the theology of religions and creation care, proposing that Christians embrace an inclusive posture toward people of other religious traditions and have an earth orientation that sees creation care as Christian formation. As part of the Pentecostal Manifestos series, this volume aims to speak for and to a rising, outward-looking generation of Pentecostal scholarship. Written by a respected newly emerging scholar, The Pentecostal Principle is a creative statement, marked by rigorous theological scholarship, reflecting a distinctly Pentecostal engagement with wider themes and concerns in Christian thought today.

Nimi Wariboko is Katherine B. Is a Pentecostal-charismatic worldview defensible in light of contemporary science? In The Spirit of Creation Amos Yong demonstrates that Pentecostal thought does indeed have merit in scientific contexts.

Justified in the Spirit - Frank D. Macchia : Eerdmans

Padgett , professor of systematic theology, Luther Seminary. At the beginning of the twenty-first century, Christianity faces one of its greatest opportunities, as well as one of its greatest challenges—the formulation of a global theology. In Beyond Pentecostalism Wolfgang Vondey argues that Pentecostal thought and praxis represent an indispensable catalyst for the realization of this task.

This task will inevitably push Christianity beyond the boundaries of the classical Pentecostal tradition. In fact, Vondey suggests, Pentecostalism itself is in the process of going beyond its own historical, theological, socio-cultural, and institutional boundaries. Wolfgang Vondey is associate professor of systematic theology at Regent University. Historically, the premise of justification by grace through faith has been debated according to Protestant and Catholic understandings.

It has, therefore, been limited to the question of whether justification is the reception of forgiveness by faith along or the personal transformation that occurs as we cooperate with grace. Though some recent ecumenical discussions have sought to link to the two, the results have been largely imprecise. The resulting pneumatological theology of justification by faith is broadly Trinitarian, ecclesiological, and eschatological in orientation.
