Cece wins the creative writing contest for the month and gets to take home the class hamster for the second week in a row because of her accomplishment. An older student is jealous his story didn't win, a classmate is upset that he didn't get his turn to take home the pet, and the whole class might be angry when they find out that the hamster has gone missing.

Did Cece's toddler brother open the cage at an after school meeting or did someone take the hamster? Soon, Cece begins to receive notes with directions on how to keep the hamster safe.

The Case of Hermie the Missing Hamster

If she doesn't comply, the hamster might be fed to a snake. CeCe and her sister are determined to discover who the "hamster-napper" is but disagree on how to go about it. They blow their chance when a meeting is set up with the culprit who gets away with a homework assignment that Cece did for him but leaves the girls without the hamster. The meanie was in disguise at a Halloween function, so the girls still don't know who has the hamster. CeCe eventually manages to come up with a clever way to prove who dun it.

This is a cute, clean, fun, mystery for children. One person found this helpful.

This is a delightful story. As a children's writer myself, I think any child would truly enjoy this book.

Got my 10 year-old granddaughter to read the Missing Hamster during her visit this week. She said it was really good and she enjoyed reading it.

She enjoyed the ending and how clever Cece was in solving the mystery. This was an excellent book and I really enjoyed following along as my daughter read it to me! She absolutely loved it and made me immediately purchase the next book in the series!! I think it was excellent timing as she had just purchased her very own hamster a week before we came across this book!!

My daughters read this during Christmas break.
