Feb 07, Tammy Terrace rated it it was amazing. This is a book that literally took me months to read, and one which after the first couple of chapters, I strongly considered never finishing. The story was slow paced and dry with two many characters in too many different settings and didn't hold my interest. Yet I hate to not finish a book I have started, and I picked it up from time to time and slowly the characters took on a life of there own and I could not set the book aside until I had finished it.

I cried several times over the final chapters. If this book could be summed up with one line, it would be: This should be mandatory highschool reading, to show how easily lives can become tangled when we misjudge others, or decide any question for ourselves without giving the other person the chance to explain. A good solid read that is worth the slow paced start. May 07, Tracey rated it it was amazing Shelves: I found this book to be a very satisfying read.

The characters were well developed, interesting and believable. I found it interesting that there were a lot of references to relationships between siblings, particularly brother-sister siblings. Each main character had issues, conflicts or close relationships with their opposite sex sibling. Katherine was a very complex character and probably my favourite. Her actions caused a lot of unintentional heartbreak. Secrets, lies, friendship, betrayal and I found this book to be a very satisfying read. Secrets, lies, friendship, betrayal and ultimately forgiveness are all explored throughout the plot of this novel.

The actions of one person can change the course of several lives, however, any one of those characters could have made a different decision and avoided years of heartbreak, sadness and the wondering of what could have been. Jul 06, Pauline Woods rated it really liked it.

I thought the author used far too many descriptive words which made me keep putting it aside as it was taking too long to read. Eventually I decided to finish it and actually enjoyed the book as a whole. Feb 29, Cyndy rated it it was amazing. This is one of my favorite Barbara Taylor Bradford books. The characters are well developed and likable. It throws you into the lives of the upper class and or wealthy people.

The only problem I had with it was making a 19 year old and 21 year old Katharine and Franchesca act more sophisticated than I really think they would have been at those ages. There was also a lot of drinking in the book, it seemed like every time someone entered a room they fixed a drink, I am surprised that there wasn' This is one of my favorite Barbara Taylor Bradford books.

There was also a lot of drinking in the book, it seemed like every time someone entered a room they fixed a drink, I am surprised that there wasn't a raging alcoholic amongst them.

But I thought BTB did a good job over a large span of time, she jumped ahead but you didn't really feel like you missed out and that is good writing. If you like entirely happy endings with every one perfectly happy then you might have a problem with the ending of the book but I liked it because I don't believe everything should have a Hollywood ending. Great writing, lousy editing Me. Taylor Bradford wrote another outstanding book and she remains one of my favorite writers. Once again she makes you feel like you are reading about friends of your own. Unfortunately the editing really detracted from the story.

There were so many errors that I spent a great deal of time just trying to figure out the words instead of being able to immerse myself in the story.
