In this tale involving a trip to a small Indian Native American tribe, theft and robberies, buried treasures, there is also lots of friendship and fun for mid elementary age readers. Enjoyable, and recommended for those younger readers who don't need constant and bloody action, swearing, overly snarky or whiny leads, and no plot as displayed in much of today's literature.

I am happy to have her read books where children are still obedient to their parents and respectful. Good mystery for 5th grade. My two sons, ages 6 and 7 love this book! Parents looking for good books for their children can count kn the Happy Hollisters. These stories are holsom and adventurous, for young people to experience.

I read these books when I was at a young age. I have two young boys that are getting to experience The happy Hollisters. As always, arrived as promised and well packaged. I wrote my original review for this book back in the September At the time of my review, it was somewhat difficult to obtain to obtain books in this series.

The Happy Hollisters and the Indian Treasure by Jerry West (1953, Hardback)

Svenson III and other family members have been working to re-release the Happy Hollister series for new generations. Svenson III is the grandson of the author. This particular book is the fourth in the series. The reprint has the illustrations and text of the original hardback books. Even better, the reprint is available as a Kindle book.

The Happy Hollisters are somewhat of a relic of an era gone by. The family pets include Zip, a collie, and White Nose, a cat, who has five kittens in this book. Hollister purchases a store called The Trading Post, which sounds similar to general stores in days gone by. Throughout the series, the children solve mysteries, usually as a family. In this book, the Hollisters encounter a group of Native Americans that call themselves the Yumatan.

As far as I can tell, no actual Native American tribe call themselves the Yumatan.
