Going to live with her uncle he helped grow and nurture this dark side of her making her one of the deadliest assassins. Going down this path caught the eye of the Arch Angel Gabriel who gives her the opportunity to use her skills for the good side of the war between heaven and hell. When Max sees Mavi he knows he must have her however he never intended to be so consumed by her.

However, Max is very secretive about who he is and what he does. Happy to say this book has a very impressive story with amazing characters and well thought out world. Mavi was a kick ass heroine that knew who she was and what she was willing to do. Her teammates although at times a hot mess were the type of people you knew would have your back.

Now Max is such a complex guy that has layer upon layer that really keeps you captivated. This universe that Claire Marta created is so well thought out between the different races that occupy the earth and the rules that apply to them. Creating a paranormal world can be hard however Claire does a really good job here. I am really excited to see how this plays out in the next book because the way it ended I need more!

Flourishing as I knew you would. This is what you were born for. May 14, Atlanta Whitlock rated it it was amazing. Throughout the book I found myself shouting at the events that had happened because I was expecting anything that did happen to actually play out, then there was other parts that she had just manage to completely blow my mind. How she done it I have no clue, but it truly was amazing, I was gutted when I got to the end because I just wanted to see what was going to happen, but I am seriously looking forward to the next book in the series.

This has been her way of dealing with this for as long as she can remember, she is such a talented girl, yet she is pretty badass and will happily kick your ass if you even go and step on the wrong side of her…. Mar 04, christine l. The Devil You Know has completely blown my mind. Everything about this story is amazing! Mavi is so kick ass and awesome I want to be her when I grow up- even if she is a blood thirsty assassin! He is drool worthy and I can not get enough of him- best book boyfriend ever! This story pulls you in, keeps you literally on the edge on your seat with you being incapable of breathing because this book is just so amazing!

The Devil You Know is filled with sizzling hotness that will make anyone blush, a story line that is so complex yet easy to follow it will leave you amazed at Martas' artistry, nonstop action and drama that will make you forget to breathe! It is simply far superior to anything else I have read to date.

The Devil You Know (Ceasefire #1) by Claire Marta

I have no words to adequately do this book justice. Can I just say as a result of this book I had the worst book hang over. I can not get it off my mind even now. In fact, I even reread it! I have no idea how that is even possible to be honest. Marta is a masterful story teller and one to be reckoned with. Apr 03, Kay Parker rated it it was amazing Shelves: I am a huge fan of Ms. Marta's since reading the Hunter Chronicles and falling in love with Eric so go read those if you haven't already!

From the first line of the first chapter, you know it's going to be a dirty book.

Not the bad kind of dirty that makes you want to shower for a year to get the ickiness off your skin, but the good kind that makes you want to roll around in it in unabashed abandon, soaking up the dirty like a I am a huge fan of Ms. Not the bad kind of dirty that makes you want to shower for a year to get the ickiness off your skin, but the good kind that makes you want to roll around in it in unabashed abandon, soaking up the dirty like a living sponge.

The characters all hold their parts up, with no one floating around like a loose thread, and they're all written to become endearingly familiar. Mavi is a stone-cold killer, but one under different circumstances we could all relate to. Or maybe that's just me But being a stone-cold killer doesn't alleviate her need for the essential human connections--sex, friendship, her brother I am not going to divulge my feelings on Max, because quite honestly, I can't afford a new laptop if I drool all over the keyboard of this one.

Let's just say that the sex is hot, raunchy, dirty, with some potential taboos in there that worked so well within the dynamics of the book. Plenty of twists and turns, there's never a boring moment. Highly recommended to anyone who enjoys a dark, dirty read that sucks you in for hours.

And if you don't enjoy that sort of book Apr 12, Indie Wish List rated it it was amazing Shelves: Every page, there were fight scenes, sex, kidnappings, confrontations, blood, murder, violence, and more sex. It was nonstop from the very first page. There were a lot of twists, too. There were some things I questioned right away that turned out right, and some were surprises. I liked how everything was slowly unraveled.

I NEED to know where the story is going next! Overall, this is a kick butt book with a strong, messed-up, sexy woman assassin who has a strong will and a mind of her own. The erotic scenes are off the charts, the fight scenes will have you biting your nails, and the ending will leave you wanting more. This will be hard to review because, honestly, I don't want to spoil anything and one small comment could do that. The Devil You Know is a fecked up story that will leave you with so many conflicted feelings. I loved it though! Half the time I'm yelling "no", the other time I'm yelling "yes".

It messes with your mind. The relationships will feck you up. Everything is so intertwined. Claire Marta weaves an intricate web and has me begging for more. You will get sucked in and then you will get con This will be hard to review because, honestly, I don't want to spoil anything and one small comment could do that.

You will get sucked in and then you will get confused with your feelings. I was all over the place. This book has me all hopped up that I'm not sure if I can even go to bed. When one string in the web is cut, another three show up in its place. There was so many twists and turns I was shocked through most of the book.

Was this mysterious giant bible written by the Devil himself?

The last twist is the most shocking. Between demons, the Devil, archangels, and every other supernatural creature Claire Marta carved herself an original world that will leave you on the edge of your seat begging for more. Mavi is a strong, badass, paranormal assassin trying to balance good vs. Little does she know, but she has the blood of both good and evil battling it out in her soul and which one that will come out on top is still up in the air.

She works for the the underworld's local bar owner and resident angel, Gabriel and has been tasked with the responsibility of If you like Jennifer Estep's Elemental Assassin series, then Claire Marta's Ceasefire Duet is for you! She works for the the underworld's local bar owner and resident angel, Gabriel and has been tasked with the responsibility of stopping hell on earth and her prey is the devil himself.

Max may as well be Lucifer by the heat he dishes out Mavi's way. The attention he throws her way is distracting her from her job but what a way to go. His character immediately made me think he was a succubus but finding out his real identity was so much more than just a mere minion for the dark side. Mavi's wild ride has only just begun.

Jul 14, MichelleLuc rated it it was amazing. What a great dark read. First time reading this author and I had no idea what I was getting into. The devil is a cunning bastard and this author did him justice!! Mavi is an assassin and she kills bad humans and sometimes demons. The team she works with also has some special powers, which I will not spoil for the reader but they are awesome to say the least. Mavi meets a handsome man by he name of Max and their time together is super steamy. He just keeps showing up and 5 beautiful dark stars!!! He just keeps showing up and she cannot resist him while she goes on her assignments.

In addition she takes care of her brother and works for Gabriel the Archangel. She also runs into Lucifer and finds out one of her assignments involves aiding the devil. I will not say anymore but this angel, demon and devil battle had me glued to my Kindle!!! Already preordered book two!! Apr 15, Stacey rated it really liked it. I love a good assassin story though so was looking forward to diving in! Mavi StClair is the main character here, fighting crime as a super human assassin in a world full of paranormal beings.

This cover is noteworthy for causing an incident involving incoming guitarist, Paul "Huge" Tobias , that was partially responsible for guitarist Slash departing from the band in Rhythm guitarist Gilby Clarke , who does not appear on the recording, noted that the recording foreshadowed his departure from the band:. They did that while I was on the road touring for my solo record.

Officially I was in the band at that time, and they did that song without me. That was one of the last straws for me, because nobody had said anything to me, and they recorded a song by one of my favorite bands. It was pretty clear I'm a big Rolling Stones fan, and they recorded the song without me. So I knew that was it. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. This article is about the song.
