The mystery and suspense were terrific. The romance between Zach and Veronica was subtle, but present enough for this to feel like romantic suspense. I was particularly impressed by Veronica's characterization; I felt like the author perfectly captured her as the adult child of alchoholic parents who was strong but with a realistic view of her own shortcomings.

It has elements of both. So if you like romance, this has it but it also has a good old fashioned crime story along with it.

I wouldn't really call it a mystery because even though the main story centres around a cold case, you can surmize early on what really happened. The main question is who is killing off the principal characters now. And even that does not stay a mystery for long, so you race along wondering how long it wi This book is a little bit forensic science and a little bit romance.

And even that does not stay a mystery for long, so you race along wondering how long it will be before the police figure it out. Apr 20, Heather Tucker rated it it was amazing. I thought this was a great book,, of course I loved the main character in this book.

It described the crazyness that was going on in her head but she kept her cool. Gotta love a strong women especially to deal with her brother disappearing and finding her father dead.. I don't know how I would react. Feb 09, Vennie rated it really liked it. This is a thriller that will keep you reading and wondering to the very end. The book offers romance, child abuse, an alcoholic father and a cold murder case. If you have never read Ms. Carr's work then perhaps it's time to give her a try. This book begins with action and just keeps going.

A very interesting ending. Feb 12, Cat rated it really liked it. Oh man, been so busy I have hardly had any time to read but I finally finished this one and really liked it. The characters are deep and well developed. I hadn't read this author before but I enjoyed her writing and would read her again. I liked how the story ended as well, good climax and I felt satisfied with the ending and solution. All in all a good read. Aug 17, Maxine rated it it was ok Shelves: This was a good mystery and a good suspense novel. I would not categorize this as a good romantic-suspense novel.

There was not enough romance, not enough insight into the characters - and they barely spent any time together. An ok book, but not something I'd recommend.

Lily Collins Alex Pettyfer You Vanished In The Night

I like that it had a small enough amount of romance to keep me interested in Veronicas personal life and the right amount of mystery and suspense to keep my interest. Definitely recommend this book for someone who likes romance but wants to try something new.

It was lacking in depth though it tried. Too hard , and was often grotesque. There is a tastfull way to handle disturbing subject matter. This book is not an example of that. It was a really good book! Though, I don't think it should be stuck in the Romance section because the majority of the book was focused on the murder case, not the romance.

It was still a good book and I enjoyed it! Carr did really well weaving the case together. This was a very enjoyable book. I love this author's writing - particularly the banter between the heroine, Veronica, and Zach. He is the cop who is in charge of investigating the discovery of her brother's body - 20 years after he disappeared. This discovery has stirred up fear, guilt and hatred which might mean Veronica is in danger.

Sep 23, Amber Gray rated it liked it Shelves: This book had it's up and down moments for me. On one hand I really liked the mystery aspect of it, that part was well written very enjoyable. I liked the story line,,,but felt really dissapointed in the end, I guess I was hopping for a more Alpha,Protective type of man, I really wanted to enjoy this book,, but just felt that it was lacking in the romance for me: Aug 16, Sarah rated it it was amazing.

Good job Eileen, your book deserves all of the awards it's received and more! Mar 21, Shannon rated it it was ok. I like murder mystery investigation novels, but the foul language and content of the story that unfolded is an evil I don't care to read. There are no discussion topics on this book yet. See a Problem?

There were a few things in the story that bugged me a little bit, but for the most part I found it to be a suspense and interesting read. I liked the characters.

The romance wasn't a favorite, but it wasn't bad either. I liked how the hero of the story right away was protective of infant -- that was sweet. The mystery was intense and definitely made for a quick read, as I wanted to see ho Vanished in the Night is the 6th book in Eason's Wrangler's Corner series and one that I enjoyed quite a bit.

With danger lurking from the very beginning to the end, there is never a dull moment. With the birth of a new baby, kidnapping, bullets flying, and questioning the marriage of their parents, this one should keep your attention.

She doesn't stubbornly hold her convictions but is willing to see the other side of the matters and be flexible when needed.

She has some serious issues from her childhood to be dealt with, to get over the resentment towards her father, and accept the change he has gone through. Joshua Crawford came to town to stop his mother from marrying Kaylee's father, yet Kaylee, and especially her newborn son Joshua delivers, steal his heart and attention. Joshua is an MMA fighting doctor, who loves babies, and whose heart was previously broken by a single mother.

He is determined to keep Kaylee and little Duncan safe, he is a kind and sweet man, willing to go to lengths to protect those he cares about. The danger and the threat towards Kaylee and little Duncan are constant. It seems that there is no safe place where the culprits do not find their way into.

A bit more edgy fear-factor could have built the tangible intensity to another level, yet the suspense is believable, the action harsh and deadly at the end. The inner turmoil Kaylee goes through, questioning her faith in God, the possible change in her father, the loss of her mother, and then the danger to her child gives the story a measure of angst, tumult, and a chance for her to grow. In midst of all the trouble and danger, the safe haven and shelter Joshua provides to Kaylee in his arms is rather adorable.

The connection between them is palpable, as it is between Duncan and Joshua as well.

I just wondered through the story, why didn't Kaylee breastfeed her infant, newborn son? From the very first, there is a bottle and formula mix in the picture and I find that curious. A charming and gentle love story with dangerous suspense and action, a dose of threat and angst, with an apprehension of upcoming parental marriage are the elements that deliver an entertaining and engaging tale of love, life, change, and faith. Jun 27, Kav rated it it was amazing.

Don't let your guard down for a minute! I have reader whiplash! What a crazy unique way for Kaylee and Joshua to meet! I don't think I've read anything quite like it. The frantic energy just leaps off the page Eason expertly draws the tension chapter after chapter. If I wasn't on edge over the creepy stalker angl Reader Beware: If I wasn't on edge over the creepy stalker angle I was having heart-palpitations over the romance. Love the way this author finds the perfect balance between both. And there's a lovely inspirational thread about stepping out in faith - taking risks and trusting God.

Pretty much everything you could want in a romantic suspense -- the only way to improve Vanished in the Night would be to make it longer. Jul 27, Sarah Grace rated it liked it. This is the sixth book in the Wrangler's Corner Series, this has been a great series.

I really like Lynette's books. She does excellent intrigues. This story is well written, action packed, and fast paced. You are going to love this one. Joshua reports all that has happened. He is still very concerned as the man said he would be back. Can he protect Kaylee and the baby. Kaylee Martin tried to call for help when she goes into labor but no one answered.

She is determined to get to the hospital so she takes off on her own. She would not have her baby on the side of the road. She's then run off the road and a man tries to drag her into a van.
