It was worth it. This is THE definitive guide to every horse breed with a recognized association in America. I consider it an invaluable resource, and I particularly enjoyed learning about several breeds I hadn't previously been aware of. That said, it took me so long to read because it isn't a pleasure read--it isn't designed to be. This book is informative and the color photos of each breed are wonderful. I found myself saying.. If you love horses, this book is a MUST! I really enjoyed this book and even purchased another for a friend.

It shows good color photos of popular and rarer breeds along with their breed standards and uses. It also shows specific crossbreeds and gives their characteristics. Great pictures, great info, well written! I purchased this book for my daughter's ninth birthday after she had borrowed the book from our local library several times. She absolutely loves it. It covers a lot of breeds, has great pictures and a lot of information.
