When I came back to Eternal Horizon for book two, I expected it to be a nonstop action romp with witty dialogue and a clever plot the author delivered , but I was not expecting to share so many emotionally-charged moments with my favorite space rebels I cried from laughing so hard, and also wept bitterly. The most remarkable thing about this book is the characters. The author allows the reader to empathize with the characters in an organic way without permanently defining their emotions as archetypal although there are moments of this, each character good and bad grows as a result of their circumstances--no one is left unchanged from their introduction.

One of the aspects I was in awe of in the previous book, as well as this one, is the seamless shift in group dynamic when certain characters are and are not present: And as the for the descriptions, it wasn't like being on a canvas as he painted the world around me, but rather that I was an unnamed character experiencing the world in the same way as the others. This is one of the author's strongest gifts as a multi-talented artist.

The Chronicle of Vincent Saturn by David Roman

I gladly lost myself and my surroundings for hours at a time on these pages, with these people in these places. Something has changed about the author's tone in writing this book as opposed to the first one, however: At least once every chapter, I shivered at how deeply certain lines affected me. David has a way of starting fires that burn in this reader's eyes, while just as effortlessly whispering Arctic breath into the valves of one's heart; he creates tender moments of passion, and ruthlessly destroys everything in a matter of sentences.

His natural ability to tell a compelling story is evident, and I hungrily await more work from this handsome devil. This is a good fun read. Too many characters but if the stuff presented at the end of the book was at the front it been a better read. Would be worth reading another in the series, which I assume is tgere. Long time waiting, hopefully next book will tie up the loose ends. See all 3 reviews.
